"Failure to Pay Food BiU Leads to Anests for IUegal Drug Distribution"
, • e Yarmouth Police Department responded
to the Cape Cod Super Buffet on Route 28 in West Yarmouth for a report of two
subjects who had le8 without paying their $25 bill. Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator
Eric H. Nuss azrived at the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation, which
confirmed that two males ran out of the restaurant after eating their meals without
paying the b�l. Alert restaurant employees obtained a description and the registration of
the suspect vehicle and provided the information to Officer Nuss.
A check of the registration led Patrol Officer Sean Brewer to the home of tkte registezed
vel�icle owner who reported that he had dropped off the two suspects at the.e�it
Patrol Investigator Nuss and Patrol Officers Brewer and Mazc Thibeault encountcred the
two suspects at the motel who admitted their involvement and agreed to pay the bill.
As the subjects entered the motel room to obtain the money Patrol Investigator Nuss
detected a strong odor of marijuana in the room. As one subject opened a nightstand
drawer, Patrol Officer Nuss observed a digital scale and marijuana in the drawer. Patrol
Irnestigator Nuss �ized the contents of the drawer—including 18 small Uags of
marijuan�and placed the subject under arrest. Further investigation led to the arrest
of two other occupants of the room and tkte seizure of$1,585 in different bundles. All
three subjects were transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
A search wazrant issued by a Barnstable DisCrict Court clerk was executed and led to
the discovery of additional bags of marijuana in the refrigerator and cocaine and
Oarycontin pills in the ceiling above the bathroom.
All subjects aze scheduled for anaignment in Barnstable District Court on Monday,
August 15, 2005.
Michael W�4oa age 19 and a 16 year-old jnveaile male are charged with the crimes of
De&auding a Restaurant, 1�o Counts of Possesson of Class B Illegal Drugs, Pwssession
to Distribute Class D Drugs, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws
JoLa R. Iliffe age 32 is charged with the crimes of 1tw Counts of Possession of Class B
IIlegal Drugs, Possession to Distribute Class D DTUgS, and Conspiracy to Violate the
Drug Laws.
