They changed the specs 8 years ago and did not send copies to us. I will need to add 3" more to the variance request. Talked to them about going to standards, however the standards do not come in H- 20. Will revise plan this morning. I noticed your email was late in the day. I know you do not hear it very often, but... I apologize — I miscalculated the groundwater adjustment. Your proposed separation is fine as far as the adjustment being used and the 5' above that. You left the note in the system profile in the soil absorption system that states "9" min." referring to the final cover over the leach facility. This needs to be changed to 18" minimum in order to meet the H-20 loading. I understand that you will have more than 9" because of the existing grades, however, the plan needs to state 18". Could you please provide me with a copy of your manufacturer's spec. sheet? My copy, dated 2013, requires the 3" of stone below the units to make them H-20 for commercial loading. If the final conclusion is that we need the 3" below the system, you may need to ask for that extra 3" off the adjustment to make the system work with gravity flow. Call or email with questions. Christian was in last week and stated they are trying to close on the property this week? Thanks, Amy Amy L.von Hone, R.S., C.H.O. The original elevation was based on the pipe in the cesspool and figuring minimum slope back. We removed the asphalt about 2 weeks ago to find the pipe and took an actual shot on the pipe for a true reading. Not possible to raise any more unless the concrete floor is removed. The full water table adjustment is 1.6'we used 1.04'. That gives a separation of 6.04 from observed, 4.04 from full adjustment and 5.00 from full adjustment less 0.56'. Our manufacturers specs also call for 18" minimum, but no stone under. The design calls for 2.23' of cover. I was having a blond day when I stamped the plan. You must have a xerox copy instead of one of the blue prints. Will drop off 2 more with signature. I am taking a course with Peter Fletch on Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday. I have reviewed the Vermont plan with Bruce once and he wants to look at it again with info from the surrounding lots. I will try to get an answer from him as soon as I can. On 33 Old Main Street, I have reviewed the revised plans and Bruce and I have the following comments (we have been told the closing is Friday): 1 The invert exiting the foundation is higher than the original plan. Is the plumbing being raised and can it be raised any higher(you may have to use a low profile tank to keep the tank far enough in the ground)? 2 When Bruce discussed allowing a variance to the groundwater adjustment, he was anticipating 5' separation above an adjustment of at least 1'. You are showing only 0.56' adjustment of a 1.6' adjustment. Can you show a 1' groundwater adjustment plus the 5' separation with a lower profile leach facility? Because the leach facility is still partially under the commercial parking lot, the manufacturer specs require the infiltrators to have a minimum of 18" of cover and a minimum of 3" of stone below them for H-20 commercial capacity. Either the leach design will need to meet the manufacturer's specs or a different type of leach facility will be need to be designed that can withstand the H-20 commercial application.
