" Iatersl and Shear Loads r when anchor bolts are used to resist uplift, lateral, and shear loads, the maxim®anchor bolt spicing shall not exceed the lesser of the tabulated values far uplift loads (cable 32C) or lateral and shear loads (Cable 3.211). For other anchor bolt limitations see Section 32.1.7 and 322.3. s Tabulated anchor bolt spacings for lateral and shear loads assume walls ate sheathed in accordance with section 3AA2. For other wallsheathir types the tabulated anchor bolt spacings shall be multiplied by the appropriate sheathing type adjustment factor in Table 3.17D, but in no case at anchor bolt spacings exceed 6 feet on center. 4 For three second gust wind speeds greater than 110 mph, with a tabulated lateral value from Table 3-5 greater than 262 plf, lateral connections sl be determined using the loads from Table 3.5. This alternative can be used for any first -floor panel that is fastened directly to the foundation or on floor framing supported by a continuous foundation. Section 5602.10.6 provides requirements for using alternate braced wall panels. The requirements for a one-story building include: • The alternate braced wall panels replace a 4 -foot (1219 mm) braced wall. • The panel has a minimum length of 2 feet 8 inches (813 mm) and a maximum height of 10 feet (304 mm). • The panel is sheathed with a 3/8 -inch (9 mm) minimum wood structural panel. • Edge nailing is 6 inches (152 mm) on center; field nailing is 12 inches (305 mm) on center. • Two anchor bolts and two hold downs are required. • Foundation reinforcement is required. Requirements for the first story of a two-story building are the same as for a one-story building - with the addition that both sides of the panel must be sheathed with a wood structural panel, the hold down capacity is increased to 3,000 pounds (1362 kg), and three anchor bolts are required. i.
