For structural spacing of 16" o.c. - Use: 3/" APA Rated Plywood Sheathing,
60/32, Exposure 1 (no unsupported edge clips or T & G required).
Attach to structural frame. Design for 110 mph wind, 30 PSF Snow Load.
Use Ice and Water Shield over entire plywood roof deck.
Use "Cedar Breather" by Benjamin Obdyke Co. (or approved equal - W,
thick after compression) under cedar roofing.
Use Certi-Last pressure impregnated Certigrade Red Cedar Shingles, No.
1 Blue Label. Shingles to be 16" long with maximum 5" exposure. Fasten
to roof deck with Type 316 Stainless Steel 3d box nails (1 %" long), 2 per
shingle. Drive nail flat to shingle surface. Do not overdrive nail. Use
double starter course. Offset joints in successive courses by 1 Y?" mini-
mum. Overhang eaves by 1 %2". Overhang rakes by 1". Do NOT interlay
shingle courses with felt. Be sure to use ridge vent as outlet for Cedar
Breather.
Valley flashing as follows: Open valley - line valley with minimum 36" Ice
and Water Shield. Use 24" wide W style preformed valley flashing. Use
20 oz. red copper or lead coated copper. Preformed pieces should not
exceed 10 feet in length. Lap successive pieces by 12" and seal with
plastic cement. Cleat flashing to deck at 12" o.c. Valley should be 6"
wide at high point and widen 1/s" per foot toward low point. Use wood
cant with copper cleats or copper cant soldered to valley to insure cedar
shingle edge does not come in contact with valley.
