BOARD OF HEALTH
MEMORANDUM
TO: Forrest White
Building Commissioner \
FROM: Bruce G. Murphy, MPH
Director of Health
SUBJECT: Boat & Breakfast
Skippy's Marina
DATE: March 2, 1998
This Department has a request from Chris and Sharon Forte, current owners of the Olde Schoolhouse Bed
& Break located at 22 Lewis Road, to operate a Boat & Breakfast at Skippy's Marina.
They have informed me that this new concept is being used in Boston, Marshfield, and Newport.
The boat will sleep six (6) however they are proposing an occupancy of 2-4. The boat will use the towns
pump out station on Bass River.
We will need to discuss the requirements of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors
and general safety issues.
There will be no cooking within the boat. The occupants will be given coupons for breakfast at various
establishments. Only coffee, juice and a small refrigerator will be used.
Skippy's is still under State order to install a pump out facility as was a requirement for their marina.
I am inquiring if there is a zoning issue for the boat location which would also include a parking review.
After you have reviewed this proposal, I would like to meet with you to discuss the above issues.
