RE: Chickens Without Permit
Dear Mr. Meyers and Ms. Stancil:
This department has received a complaint regarding rooster noise coming from your property.
You do not have the required poultry license from this department. If you wish to keep the
chickens on your property, you must return the enclosed poultry license application along with a
diagram of the location of the chicken coop and pen area. You must note the distance the coop
and pen area are from property lines. The town regulation (copy enclosed) requires a 50 foot
setback from property lines for the coop and pen area. It appears you made need a variance from
the side property line. This vaxiance request must be submitted in writing and discussed with the
Health Department. No roosters will be allowed due to complaints from neighbors. The roosters
must be removed within 7 days of receipt of this letter.
Please contact this office on receipt of this letter to discuss the steps and timetable for the
required licensure of the chickens.
Sin ely,
