Mr. Bruce Mutphy October 5, 1999 Yarmouth Health Department 1146 Route 28 South Yarmouth,MA 02664 ; ; Dear Mr. Murphy, 1 " I am writing to inform you of the deplorable conditions my 10-yeax-old daughter and I experienced at the American Host Motel in West Yarmouth on October 2, 1999. We cheked into room 3 of the motel on Saturday evening. We were disappointed with ; the quality of the room but we were tired and thought it would be OK for just one night. My daughter went swimming. The pool azea appeazed to be in fine sha.pe so I relaxed a little. When we retumed to our room I discovered the air conditioner didn't work. But,when I tumed down ' ; the sheets on my daughter's bed I was thoroughly disgusted to find that the sheets were dirty. I called the manager and she was neither surprised nor apologetic about our situation and said she could change the sheets. I pointed out that the air conditioner was broken so the manager j moved us to room 54. When I tumed on the light in the new room I was greeted by a wad of chewed gum on the lamp and a clock radio that was covered in dirt and grime. The bathroom was full of mold, the shower curtain was diriy, and there were cobwebs on the window. It was late and we were tired and the new sheets at least appeared to be clean so we sta.yed. The nert morning when I informed the manager of the filthy condition of the second ' ; room she again showed no surprise or remorse for the condition of her motel. Instead she just ; blamed the maids as if she had no responsibility in the matter. .-._ i The conditions we eerienced were filthy and unhealthy. Since the management dcesn't seem to care I felt that you should be informed so you could take steps to protect the public. a I Yours truly, _ ' ^ r-.._ C. La.ura Nikolich ( — - 18 Bishops Lane Lynnfield, Ma 01940 781 334-6524 1_nikolich@hotmail.com
