Existing bulkheads slated for removal shall be removed simultaneously with excavation of existing backfill adequate to create an earth slope of not steeper than 3 horizontal to 1 vertical where such slopes meet the waters of Bass River. r2. Excavated backfill shall be stockpiled for. replacement behind the new bulkhead. 3. Disposal of existing bulkhead and pier components All demolished timber and/or hardware shall be disposed of off site in a suitable location. Lumber. All lumber used in conjunction with the -pier and bulkhead construction shall be of yellow pine, pressure treated for marine application with CCA chemical to a retention of not less than 2.0 lbs. per cubic ft. Field cuts shall be treated with Osmose K-33 or equal wood preservative. 13. Steel Sheeting - Steel sheet piles shall be as specified on the detail sheet (Sheet 3 of 3). All steel sheets shall be installed according to the plan. Such installation shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.. 14. Site Cleanup All trash and debris resulting from the construction shall be removed from the site. Suitable vegetation, such as grass, shall be planted to stabilize disturbed areas not paved or otherwise prepared, immediately following construction. Dredge spoils shall remain on site for use as backfill or be disposed of in a prepared excavation on site. 15. Boat Ramp Area - Boat ramp area shall be dewatered and prepared with dense graded processed stone and surfaced with precast concrete slabs or cast in place concrete slabs at owner's option. Subbase shall be protected from erosion by placing "at grade" retaining walls along the ramp perimeter. See plan for. details. 16. Fuel and utilities replacement and/or j installation shall be provided by others. 17. All pier and anchor pilings shall be set by jetting, butt -end dawn or by impact driving.
