I have completed my inspections of the replacement septic system components recently
completed at the above-referenced property. I inspected the open excavation for soil
quality consistency. A final inspection of the completed SAS was made prior to
; backfilling. Subsequent to the SAS construction, additional inspections were made to
verify building sewer pipe connections to the grease trap and the septic tank respectively
and to verify the tee fitting replacement of the septic tank. All pipes and the tee fitting are
I consistent with the plan. The SAS has been constructed in substantial compliance with
the plan.
i During the subsequent inspections, unacceptable quantities of kitchen flow solids were
observed in the grease trap. The grease trap was pumped out and the owner reviewed
with me my suggested alternate methods of controlling and limiting the amount of
kitchen flow solids from rcaching the grease trap with the potential to cause harm to the
SAS. Grease interceptors, separation of materials such as flour-based baking batter for
solid waste disposal prior to dishwashing are some examples. More frequent inspection
and maintenance of the grease trap and septic tank has been recommended to the owner
in order to monitor the new practices mandated in the kitchen.
Please contact me directly for any questions.
