Rip Rap stone shall be sound, durable rock which is angular in shape. Each stone shall weight not less than 50 pounds and at least 757 of the volume shalt consist of stones weighing not less than 500 pounds each. The remainder of the stones shall be so graded that when placed with larger stones the entire mass will be compact. Stone used as Rip Rap shall not weight less than 162 PCF. 7.) Emergency environmental controls shall be available on-site for immediate use by the Contractor in the event of an oil spill . When work is performed near the bank of the river, all containment booms shall be Instnlled daily such that the work in progress Is completely confined and when the work location changes, the booms shall be relocated before work resumes, 8,) In locations where welding is to occur, the rusted steel shall be chipped, brushed and ground to clean the proposed welded surfaces. Welding of the parts shall be as indicated on the plans and in accordance with AWS 'Structural Welding Code' D1.1. 9.) Fitter fabric shall be a strong woven geotextlle drainage fabric such as Jenninn woven monofilament GTF-400EO or equal. Contractor shall provide a submittal of the fabric proposed for use for review by the Engineer. Fabric shalt be Installed and anchored by the armor stone with excess provided to allow for stone settlement, 10,) New armor stone materials shall be 1 to 2 ton size (approximately 28'-36') and shall be granite quarry or other stone of approved quality In regard to strength, resistance to abrasion, and durabillty and shalt be angular blocks, with the length between two and three times the width dimension. Stones shalt have at least three fractured face surfaces and be placed to interlock the units into a stable compact form, Armor stone shall not weight less than 160 PCF. Salvaged 'dumped rip rap' shall be incorporated Into the new armor stone to create an Interlocked mass of revetment that Is set to the existing top and present toe of slope for the adjacent rip rap. The revetment slope shall be installed with a 'rough' surface configuration (+/- 6'), 11.) Drainage holes (2' 0) shall be provided at 20' intervals within the sheeting, located below the finished grade of the backfill. 3/3' Stone backfill (2 CF) shall be provided around each drain hole with filter fabric encapsulating the stone. 12.) All hales, welds and uncoated cut edges made on site shall be coated with a Cold Galvanizing Compound such as Z.R,C. Galvilite or Clearco Cold Galvanize Spray. 13.) Design assumes that the existing tieback system can be reused with some repairs. Each existing tieback shalt be explored by the Contractor & repairs made where necessary. In areas where the tieback Is not repairable, a new 'anchor pile' shall be Installed In locations as determined by the Engineer. <See Detail D) 14.) Treated Timber Piles shall be Southern Yellow Pine meeting ASTM D25 'Standard Specification for Round Timber Piles'.
