The driveway shall be surfaced with pervious paving (i.e., crashed stone). The invasive English ivy, daylilies, hydrangeas and four crowding or declining upright, non-native junipers to be removed. Two red cedars, native shrubs and meadow shall be planted for wildlife cover and screening from the street. Existing brick path, arbor and associated remnants of cultivated planting to be removed. New fieldstone walk passes under a new, wood arbor to the front door. The native fieldstone wall will be properly re -built as noted on the plan. r- ofi PA V E MEN T Exi,jTtNq CAA5 Note #3 Meadow Existing, non-native plants to be eradicated. Replace with a planting and/or seeding of native grasses and forbs to create a "sandplain grassland" community (an endangered habitat) in the existing mowed area surrounding house (see Plant List). Once established, th!s native meadow requires little maintenance other than annual mowing in late winter/early spring and weeding of non -natives and invasive plants. Sandplain grasslands provide excellent wildlife habitat and habitat for rare species. Approximately 3 ft. wide paths of native fescue and/or Pennsylvania sedge through the meadow allow comfortable travel around the property with less chance of tick exposure. Paths require only infrequent mowing and no supplemental irrigation or fertilizer. A small opening in the meadow with a wood bench provides a wildlife viewing location.
