HE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO REBUILD AN E)aSTING FAILING FDCK REVETMENT. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND
TALL ALL MATERIAL, EQUIPMENT AND LABOR FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF A ROCK REVETM94T ALONG THE SHOREFRONT AS
CRIBED AND SHORAN ON THE PLAN AND DETAILS.

THE EXISTING REVETMENT SHALL BE DIS—ASSEMBLED AND STOCKPILED AT THE SOUTH END OF THE REVETMENT. THE
ETMENT SHALL BE RE—BUILT IN PLACE, UTILIZING THE EXISTING FOOTPRINT. STARTING AT THE NORTH END, WORKING SOUTH
COMPLETE. ALL MACHINERY SHALL REMAIN IN THE FOOTPRINT OF THE EXISTING REVETMENT; NO MACHINERY TO COME IN
ITACT I1!TH THE EXISTING SPARTINA VEGETATION FRONTING THE REVELMENT.
'RIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, A PORTION OF THE VEGETATED BUFFER SHALL BE TEMPORARILY RELOCATED TO THE LOCATION
)WN ON THE PLAN. THE PLANTS STALL BE MAINTAINED IN THIS LOCATION UNTIL ALL CONSTRUCTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
RANTS SHALL BE TRANSPLANTED TO THE BUFFER AREA WHEN THE GROWING SEASON AND WEATHER ALLOWS.
THE EXISTING TIMBER BEACH ACCESS STAIRS AND A PORTION OF THE PIER SHALL BE TEMPORARILY REMOVED AND PLACED AT
UlTABLE LOCATION AS APPROVED DURING THE PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING, AND RE -INSTALLED AFTER CONSTRUCTION IS
IPLEIE.
7. ANY FILL MATERIAL REQUIRED SHALL BE CLEAN COMPACTED COARSE SAND BROUGHT ONTO SITE BY CONTRACTOR.
B. FILTER CLOTH SHALL BE MIRAFI FILTERWEAVE FW 400, OR EQUAL. AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
9. THE FILTER CLOTH SHALL BE PLACED IN TWO LAYERS ON TOP OF THE GRADED SLOPE OF THE BANK, AND BENEATH THE TOE
MATERIAL THE JOINTS OF THE FILTER CLOTH SHALL BE STAGGERED AT LEAST SIX FEET APART. THE FILTER CLOTH SHALL BE
OVERLAPPED AT LEAST THREE FEET IN EACH DIRECTION. ENDS OF FITER CLOTH SHALL NOT BUTT EACH OTHER,
10. A MINIMUM OF A NINE -INCH LAYER OF BEDDING STONE SHALL BE PLACED OVER THE FILTER CLOTH PRIOR TO THE
PLACEMENT OF THE ARMOR STONE.
11. NEW TOE STONES SHALL BE INSTALLED, 117TH EXISTING STONE RE -USED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE SECONDARY ARMOR STONE
TO BE PLACED OVER THE BEDDING STONE TO COMPLETELY COVER SURFACE OF BEDDING STONE. AS APPROVED BY ENGINEER.
12. THE ARMOR STONE SHALL BE PLACED BY EQUIPMENT ONTO THE EM, THE ROCK SHALL NOT BE DUMPED ONTO THE BANK.
EACH STONE SHALL BE CHOSEN AND PLACED INTO POSITION BY EQUIPMUT IN ORDER TO INTERLOCK WITH ADJOINING STONES.
PLACEMENT SHALL BE SUCH $O THAT THE END FACE OF THE LONGEST DTIENSKXN OF THE STONE SHALL FACE SEAWARD, THE
ROCK THUS LAYING HORIZONTALLY. EACH STONE SHALL BE ADEQUATELY ?APPED' AMD °KEYED' INTO PROPER SEATING TO INSURE
TIGHT FIT, BEFORE ANOTHER STONE IS ADDED. STONES NOT PROPERLY STACKED SO AS TO SECURELY INTERLOCK, UPON THE
ENGINEER'S JUDGMENT, SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED TO THE ENGINEER'S SATISFACTION.
13. MAJOR VOIDS IN THE ARMOR STONE OF THE RECONSTRUCTED REVETMENT SHALL BE FILLED WITH A MINIMUM OF 12" CHIP
STONES. STONE TO BE "F ND -FITTED" INTO VOIDS. STONE NOT TO BE LEFT LOOSE ON FACE OF ARIAOR STONE LOOSE
'CHINKING' STONE, I.E. 6- DIAMETER OR LESS CRUSHED STONE, SHALL NOT BE UTILIZED TO FILL VOIDS
14. UPON COMPLETION OF THE REVETMENT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REGFADE THE BEACH, INCLUDING REPLACEMENT OF THE
COVER OVER THE BASE OF THE REVETMENT, TO MATCH THE ADJACENT BEACH PROFILES.
15. THE REVETMENT AND BEACH SHALL BE INSPECTED BY THE ENGNEER APPROXIMATELY 26 DAYS (ONE MOON CYCLE TIDE)
AFTER CONSTRUCTION TO ENSURE THAT NO EXTRANEOUS CONSTRUCDON STONES REMAIN ON THE BEACH. ANY LOOSE
CONSTRUCTION STONES ON THE BEACH SHALL BE REMOVED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
