71MBER AND PILE NOTES
1. ALL TIMBER FOUNDATION PILES SHALL BE OF TYPE 1 SPECIES LUMBER
AS DEFINED N SECTION 16220 OF THE MASSACHUSETTS STATE BUILDING
CODE AND SHALL CONFORM TO THE APPLICABLE PROVISIONS OF THE
'STANDARD FOR ROUND TIMBER PILES', ASTM D-25.
2 ALL TIMBER PILES SHALL BE PRESSURE TREATED WITH WATERBORNE
CCA PRESERVATIVE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AWPA C3, TREATMENTS SHALT.
CONFORM TO THE AWPB STANDARD MP -4. ALL PEE CUTOFFS SHALL BE
TREATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANN STANDARD M-4. THE MINIMUM
PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT RETENTION FOR TIMBER PILES AND
HEAVY TIMBER SHALL BE 25 PCF
3. BEFORE ANY TREATED PILES ARE DRIVEN, A CERTIFICATION SHALL BE
SUBMITTED, CERTIFYING THAT THE PILES WERE FREE FROM DECAY, WERE
PROPERLY PEELED AND OTHERWISE PREPARED BEFORE TREATMENT, AND
THE METHOD OF TREATMENT, THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND THE
AMOUNT OF RETENTION OF THE PRESERVATIVE CONFORM TO THE
REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED HEREIN. THE PRESERVATIVE RETENTION SHALL
BE DETERMINED BY ASSAY METHOD.
4. PILES SHALL BE 800 PSI MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH PARALLEL
TO GRAIN AND SHALL MEASURE AT LEAST TEN INCHES (101 IN
DIAMETER AT THE TIP.
5. EACH PILE SPLICE SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 2' IN LENGTH
INCLUDING THE OVERLAP AREA AND SECURED WITH 2- 3/4' 0
GALV. THRU BOLTS TO BE SPACED NOT LESS THAN 4' APART
AND NO LASER THAN 3' TO THE EDGE OF THE OVERLAP.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR COASTAL CONSTRUCTION
1. SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR COASTAL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN
ACCORDANCE NTH THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOUND IN THE 'COASTAL
CONSTRUCTION! MANUAL' AS PUBLISHED BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA -55}
2. ALL STEEL MEMBERS CONNECTIONS, CONNECTORS, ETC. SHALL BE
HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED AFTER FABRICATION. ALL METAL
CONNECTORS MUST BE ROUTINELY INSPECTED AND
MAINTAINED OVER THE SERVICEABLE LIFE OF THE STRUCTURE.
GENERAL NOTES
1. SUPPLY ALL MATERIAL,-EQUIPNFNT AND LABOR FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
PERMANENT PIER, RAMP, AND FLOAT AS DESCRIBED AND SHOWN ON PIAN
AND DETAILS.
2. ALL WORK TO BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS AND THE ORDER OF CONDITIONS ISSUED BY THE
YARMOUTH CONSERVATION COMMISSION.
3. ACCESS TO BE FROM THE PATH ON THE APPUCANTS PROPERTY, OR
FROM WORKING BARGE. WORKING BARGE NOT TO BE LOCATED OVER
MARSH AT ANY TIME STAGING AREA FOR MATERIALS TO BE IN THE
APPUCANT'S DRIVEWAY.
4, METAL TO BE HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED AFTER FABRICATION. TIMBER IN
CONTACT WITH GROUND AND UNDER WATER TO BE CCA PRESSURE,
TREATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH WOOD PRESERVATIVE INSTITUTE OF
AMERICA ALL OTHER TIMBER TO BE ACO TREATED, OR OTHER
ROT -RESISTANT LUMBER TYPE
5. NO MACHINERY OR EQUIPMENT TO OPERATE N THE MARSH.
6. CONSTRUCTION DETAILS TO BE APPROVED BY ENGINEER PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION.
7. MINIMUM SPACE BETWEEN ALL DECK PLANKING TO BE 3/4, WITH
PLANKING ORIENTED NORTH -SOUTH.
