Dear Mr. Murphy;
We are writing to you in response to�►our notification regarding the sale of
cigarettes to minors in Store#612 located at 14 East Main Street on November 3,
1999. We are deeply conc�rned about these vialations and are taking the
following action in order to comply with the Board of Health Regulations:
1 Re-train all employees and have employees sign company policy
regarding sale of age restricted products_
2 Conduct a"We Card Program"in conjunction witla the Board of
Health as soon as possible. Ordered new"We ID'° sign packages
for all stores. .°
3 &mploy a shopping service to shop our stores twice a month.
4 Manager to review video tapes and tape recordin�s ea�h day to
insu�e our employees are in compliance with the law.
5 Programmed register to ask clerk to check birth date of person
purchasing cigaretces. Clerk has to physically press a yes or no key
in order to proceed with transaction,
6. Reward positive beha.vior.
• $50.00 bonus program for employees who do check for
1D's during professional shoppers visits or Town store
checks.
7 Disciplinary Action
• Termination of employee in store#612
8 Enclosed is a copy of a complianee check that we passed on '
Au�tast 5, 1999.
We will continue to train and educate our employees on the seriousness of these
violations. We would appreciate th.e boards feedback regarding uur action plan.
