RE:1060 Route 28 McDonalds revisions to base plan Amy vonHone,R.S., C.H.O. Assistant Health Director Yarmouth Health Department South Yarmouth,MA 02664 Dear Amy, In response to your review of the base plan for the replacement of the existing failed leach field with a pressure distribution leach facility and the addition of the 3,000 gal pump chamber,I offer the following; G1) See Technical Note 2,which calls for the tank to be made waterproof at the factory aiZ) I have included the new, 3,000 gal pump chamber and it is only a single compartment H20 . rated septic tank, EF Shea CTK 3000 commercial line tank. . I have revised the GW elevation on the profile section to be 5.15 (,!,4) I have revised the plan to show the existing tankage with a dark dashed line. :,5) I have listed a request to only propose a single pressure distribution pump as this system will most likely be abandoned in the future in favor of a connection to a sewer system. `6) I have included buoyancy calculations. t I have included the existing water line into the building(front of building near southernmost corner). • ✓) I have revised the Design Calculations to show 92 occupants, with a design flow of 1,953.6 gpd and 2,640 s.f of area. 9) I have revised the Elevation Schedule to include; r`-''A) Existing ST inlet and Existing ST outlet r-$)Revised dosing,240 gal per dose, dosed 8 times a day,a pump run of 0.38 ft,4 9/16 inches Leach Facilities I have reviewed the elevations at the test sites, the depth to ground water at each test hole and have determined that the lowest point of the leach field controls the depth for the components. Specifically, at the TP-2location,the existing surface elevation is 11.57, depth to GW is 86 inches, 7.16 ft.So, GW is at 4.40 elev. Add 5 ft offset to GW,bottom, without r Frimpter Adjustrnent is 9.40. In order to minimize need to raise the bed and re-grade , ` paved areas, assume the finished grade over the leach facility to be 11.57 and design with ;r » '' ' nd depth of leach bed. Provide 9 inches cover, irrespective of hot top, — vide 2 i s of pressure distribution(PD)laterals and 6 inches of crushed stone n beneath the PD laterals, this leaves 0.77 ft of addition depth for the Frimpter Adjustment. Y A) PD lateral invert is 10.67 ) Bottom of Bed 10.17 Civil Engineering 6 Beaver Brook Littleton MA 01460 Nashoba Engineering Associates . . . . '. C) Finish Grade 11.57(this will be at the eastern end of the leach field, and there will be a minor grade change due to the thickness of the hot top patching) ) The minimum breakout is the top of the PB leach facility, 10.84 elev. . E) The Frimpter Adjustment is 0.77 ft increase. ./10) I have included a note that an electrical permit is required for the electrical work proposed, see a Notes-Pump Notes, number 4. 11) I have included the depth of the processed gravel and hot top. /12) I have included a line at the approximate start of the breakout, 15' off the edge of the PD bed, to help detexmine the breakout criteria. As breakout is calculated to be 10.84 elev., and there is no point near the line with an elevation of less than 11.22 elev.,breakout does not appear to control. 13) I have included a vent system comprised of five (5)4" sch 40 perforated laterals laid directly on the surface of the PD bed crushed stone,6 ft. on center, running the length of the PD bed and collected in a 4"sch 40 solid manifold turned up and vented by a riser located in the grassed area. See the Vent Detail. 14) I have revised the Observation Port note to remove the word Chamber and substitute Leach , f Bed. `"15) I have included an Designer Inspection Schedule. I trust this will address your concerns relative to the design of the replacement septic system, however,if I can help in any way, please let me know, Regards, John F.Field, .P.E. Principal Nashoba Engineering Associates
