Brian Heaslip, Housing Inspector � Tenant Inspection was arranged to examine an existing basement apartment. The apartment was created within the last 2 years without benefit of building, � electric, or plumbing permits. ; i i Coastal Engineering had applied for, and was granted, permission to design � a sewage ejection pump installation so that a basement level bathroom � could be created. DEQE approval was given August 12, 1986. Notification � submitted to Health Office is a letter of September 1, 1986 (rec'd 9/17/86). � It was determined at the time of inspection that this unit is unacceptable ', due to the following points. , a) Unacceptable window dimensions for emergency egress-living room. b) Six foot seven inch ceiling height in kitchen. c) Lack of windows in bedroom. d) Single egress - second means of egress is through furnace area/work • room. e) Initial violation of applicable codes by construction without permits. The tenant was informed verbally that he should vacate immediately due to potential life threatening hazard.
