LEAD DETECTION SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: THE VEEDER-ROOT SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY IN PLACE TO DETECT LEAKS IN UNDERGROUND INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER HOLDING TANKS AT THE SITE. ON 2/15/95 THE SYSTEM WAS UPDATED TO INCLUDE IN EACH TANK A STAINLESS STEEL MAGNETORESTRICTIVE PROBE, CAPABLE OF DETECTING LEAKS OVER A SET PERIOD OF TIME. SPECIFICALLY, BY IMPOSING A 6 HOUR "RESTING" TIME (I.E., NO FLOW IN OR OUT) EACH MONTH ON THE TANKS, THE SYSTEM WILL COMPENSATE FOR TEMPERATURE AND PROVIDE INDICATION OF ANY LEAKS IN THE TANKS. THE PROBES, WHICH MEASURE ACCURATELY TO 0.1 GALLON PER HOUR, WILL BE INSPECTED MONTHLY FOR SIGNS OF CORROSION AND WEAR. SPARE PROBES ARE KEPT ON SITE AS REPLACEMENTS.
