1. PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT .OF THE WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SECURE ALL REQUIRED PERMITS, APPROVALS, ETC.
FROM ALL RESPECTIVE DEPARTMENTS, AGENCIES, COMMISSIONS ETC. HAVING JURISDICTION AND SHALL SUBMIT ONE (1) COPY
OF SUCH TO BOTH THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE AND THE ARCHITECT.
2. ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS BUILDING CODE AND THE RULES AND
REGULATIONS OF ALL AGENCIES, DEPARTMENTS, AND COMMISSIONS HAVING JURISDICTION.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EMPLOY MEANS AND METHODS THAT MINIMIZE VIBRATION, NOISE, DUST, POLLUTANTS AND OTHER
DISTURBANCES TO OPERATIONS OF THE OWNER AND THAT OF ADJACENT PROPERTIES AND SCHEDULE REMOVALS TO MINIMIZE
DISRUPTION TO OPERATIONS OF THE OWNER AND THAT OF ADJACENT PROPERTIES.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONSTRUCTION CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF
ANY DEMOLITION OPERATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPORT ANY DISCREPANCIES TO THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER PRIOR
TO THE START OF THE WORK. COMMENCEMENT OF THE WORK SHALL IMPLY ACCEPTANCE OF ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS..
5. CONTRACTORS SHALL PROPERLY BRACE, SHORE, UNDERPIN, AND MAKE SAFE ALL WALLS, FLOORS, SIDEWALKS, FOOTINGS,
FOUNDATIONS, AND ADJACENT PROPERTY AS THE JOB CONDITIONS REQUIRE.
6. BEFORE REMOVING DEBRIS OR PORTIONS THEREOF, CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THAT SUCH ARE NOT LOAD-BEARING,
AND DETERMINE THE CONDITIONS OF SUPPORT FOR THE REMAINING PORTIONS OF THE BUILDING. IF PLANS CALL FOR
REMOVAL OF ANY PARTS THAT ARE LOAD-BEARING, THE ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER IS TO BE IMMEDIATELY CONSULTED;
CONTRACTOR SHALL INFORM ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER OF THE MATERIALS, THICKNESS OF THE WALL, AND THE EXACT
DIMENSIONS OF PORTIONS TO BE REMOVED OF SUCH WALLS PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT ALL EXISTING WORK WHICH IS TO REMAIN.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SPACES AND ASSEMBLIES ADJACENT TO THE AREA OF
OPERATION UNDER THIS CONTRACT. ANY DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE RESULTING FROM WORK DONE UNDER THIS CONTRACT
SHALL BE PROMPTLY RESTORED, REPLACED, OR REPAIRED AT NO EXTRA COST OF THE OWNER.
9. REMOVE ALL GARBAGE AND RUBBISH FROM THE BUILDING SITE IN AN ORDERLY MANNER AND LEGALLY DISPOSE OF IT
PROPERLY. PROVIDE SUFFICIENT CONTAINERS TO HOLD THE RUBBISH PRIOR TO ITS REMOVAL FROM THE SITE.
GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL WORK IS TO BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL MASSACHUSETTS BUILDING, ZONING, AND ELECTRICAL CODES.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL PERMITS AS REQUIRED BY THE MASSACHUSETTS BUILDING CODE (780 CMR).
3. CONTRACTOR TO.VISIT SITE AND SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND CONDITIONS_IN THE FIELD. CONTRACTOR TO REPORT
ALL DISCREPANCIES TO ARCHITECT PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH WORK.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN COMPLETE AND UP-TO-DATE DRAWINGS AT THE JOB SITE.
5. THE INTENTION OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS IS TO INCLUDE ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND ALL OTHER ITEMS
NECESSARY FOR THE PROPER EXECUTION AND COMPLETION OF THE WORK.
6. BY EXECUTING THE CONTRACT, THE CONTRACTOR REPRESENTS THAT THEY HAVE VISITED THE SITE AND HAVE
FAMILIARIZED THEMSELVES WITH THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE WORK IS TO BE PERFORMED.
7. THE ARCHITECT WILL HAVE AUTHORITY TO REJECT WORK WHICH DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPERVISE AND DIRECT THE WORK, USING HIS BEST SKILLS AND ATTENTION. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION MEANS, METHODS, TECHNIQUES, SEQUENCES AND PROCEDURES AND
FOR COORDINATING ALL PORTIONS OF THE WORK.
9. EACH CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM ALL REQUIRED CUTTING AND CHOPPING FOR HIS OWN TRADE, UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED.
10. DRAWINGS SHALL NOT BE SCALED TO OBTAIN DIMENSIONS.
11. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROPERLY SHORE, UNDERPIN, PROTECT, AND MAKE SAFE ALL FLOORS, WALLS, FOUNDATIONS, AND
ADJACENT STRUCTURES.
12. THE CONTRACTOR AT ALL TIMES SHALL KEEP PREMISES FREE FROM ACCUMULATION OF WASTE MATERIALS OR RUBBISH
CAUSED BY THEIR OPERATIONS.
13. ALL EXITS SHALL BE KEPT READILY ACCESSIBLE AND UNOBSTRUCTED AT ALL TIMES. MAINTAIN REQUIRED EMERGENCY
EGRESS DURING CONSTRUCTION.
14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE OWNER, ARCHITECT, THEIR AGENTS, AND EMPLOYEES,
FROM AND AGAINST ANY CLAIMS, DAMAGES, LOSSES, AND EXPENSES INCLUDING ATTORNEY'S FEES ARISING OUT OF OR
RESULTING FROM THE PERFORMANCES OF THE WORK.
15. THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO AWARD OTHER CONTRACTS IN CONNECTION WITH OTHER PORTIONS OF THE
PROJECT. GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS TO COORDINATE THEIR WORK WITH THE WORK OF OTHERS.
16. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY ALL FEES AND SECURE PERMITS FROM ALL AGENCIES HAVING JURISDICTION AND AT
COMPLETION SHALL SEE THAT THE PROJECT IS SIGNED OFF IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS.
17. WEATHER PROTECTION: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES PROVIDE PROTECTION AGAINST THE RAIN, WIND, STORM,
FROST, OR HEAT SO AS TO MAINTAIN ALL WORK MATERIALS, APPARATUS AND FIXTURES FROM INJURY OR DAMAGE.
18. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT ALL AREAS OUTSIDE THE CONTRACT LIMITS AND RESTORE ALL SUCH PROPERTY TO ITS
CONDITION PRIOR TO THE START OF THE WORK.
19. DAMAGE: ALL WORK DAMAGED BY FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROTECTION SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW
WORK AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEE ALL MATERIALS AND
WORKMANSHIP FROM THE DATE OF ACCEPTANCE AND SHALL REPLACE ANY DEFECTIVE WORK WITHIN THAT PERIOD WITHOUT
EXPENSES TO THE OWNER AND PAY FOR ALL DAMAGES TO OTHER PARTS OF THE BUILDING CAUSED BY REPAIR OF HIS
WORK.
20. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESTORE TO VALUE SPECIFIED IN APPLICABLE CODES THE INTEGRITY OF EXISTING RATED
PARTITIONS AND THE FIRE PROTECTION OF STRUCTURAL MEMBERS THAT ARE DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
