You are required to have an up to date inspection every five years per MSBC Section 1001.3.2. Per Massachusetts State Building Code: 780 CMR Section 1001.3.2 Testing and Certification: All exterior bridges, steel or wooden stairways,fire escapes and egress balconies shall be examined and/or tested, and certified for structural adequacy and safety ever,five years, by a Massachusetts registered professional engineer, or others qualified and acceptable to the building official;said engineer or others shall then submit an affidavit to the building official. You are therefore required as the owner of all commercial properties which contain these structures,to provide an original,stamped affidavit signed by a structural engineer, attesting that he or she has inspected and certified said structures as safe for public use. You must comply with within three months from the expiration date listed on your current certificate. The issuance of a new certificate, however,will be subject to the receipt of the engineer's report. YOUR LAST ENGINEER REPORT EXPIRED ON---N/A Questions regarding this matter may be directed to this department.
