Dear Building Department,
On April 19, 2016 I inspected the balconies and egress stairways for the Skipper
Restaurant at 152 South Shore Drive in South Yarmouth. The existing framing meets the
requirements of the Massachusetts State Building Code, 780CMR 1003.3.3.

Re: Skipper Restaurant,
Our records indicate that you're testing & certification inspection report by a MA Professional
engineer has expired. You are required to have an up to date inspection every five years per MSBC
Section 1001.3.2.
Per Massachusetts State Building Code: 780 CMR Section 1001.3.2 Testing and Certification:
All exterior bridges, steel or wooden stairways,fire escapes and egress balconies shall be
examined and/or tested, and certified for structural adequacy and safety ever,five years, by a
Massachusetts registered professional engineer, or others qualified and acceptable to the
building official;said engineer or others shall then submit an affidavit to the building official.
You are therefore required as the owner of all commercial properties which contain these
structures,to provide an original,stamped affidavit signed by a structural engineer, attesting
that he or she has inspected and certified said structures as safe for public use. You must comply
with within three months from the expiration date listed on your current certificate.
The issuance of a new certificate, however,will be subject to the receipt of the engineer's
report.

You are required to respond within 7 days failure to respond may result in revocation of
your certificate of occupancy
