Would you please pass along this letter to the Old Kings Highway Committee. I will pass along letters from neighbors who will have to look at the house every day as well as some pictures. Dear Old Kings Highway Committee, Thank you for the work that you do in preserving the integrity of the Old Kings Highway District. My wife and I have lived on the Cape nearly our entire lives- mostly in Yarmouth and both graduates of D -Y. Our love for this area is due mainly to it's beauty and charm so we understand the need to have standards to maintain it's character. Therefore, we appreciate and applaud the work that you do. As you are aware we have applied for approval of the installation of solar panels on our new home at 11 Helmsman Drive. We moved in June from 19 Cheyenne Lane just a stones throw away. We have been interested in doing solar for several years and did not get serious about it until we purchased this home in December of 2015. Knowing that we live in the Historic District we were cognizant of the need for approval of the project. One of the things that gave us the impetus to continue was the fact that our neighbor at 6 Cheyenne had put up a system on the front of the house that was visible from Weir Road. And, to be honest, a system with more visual impact and on a brown roof. So, we went ahead and spent much time researching solar companies and panels that would blend in with the roof as much as possible - we also took down a few trees that were blocking the roof and we think enhances the overall look of the property. We were also approved for a solar loan through Mass Clean Energy Commission and there are both Federal and Mass tax credits for the installation of solar panels. The use of available technology to reduce our dependency on oil and other natural resources will be a must for our and our grandchildren's future. Our family has 2 hybrid cars and we plan to buy a car that will be able to be plugged in at my home and use the solar energy produced from the panels to power the vehicle thereby reducing our carbon footprint even more. We are hoping and praying that we can come up with a solution that both maintains the character of the Old Kings Highway Historic District and is responsible to future generations. Thank you for your time and look forward to meeting with you on November 14 Best Regards, Guy M. Cecchi Maria T. It has brought to my attention that my neighbor, Mr. Cecchi, is seeking approval from the OKH to install solar panels on his home. I fully endorse this project. I wholeheartedly support my neighbors in their efforts to maintain and improve their property. I understand that the mission of OKH is to approve aesthetic appropriateness and to maintain the integrity of neighborhoods in the district. In my opinion, installing solar panels on the Cecchi family home does just that by improving the value of the property. Thank you for all your efforts on behalf of the residents of Yarmouthport. Sincerely, Nancy O'Connor 97 Helmsman Drive Yarmputhport, MA 02675 NOV 14 2016 YAKMOU I -H OLD KING'S HIGHWAY JAPPRr> OVED NOV 7 3 2016 NOV 14 2016 TOWNYARUTH CLERK LOLDKINGISHIGHkVAY STH YARMOUTH 1(0-1410'7 Oct 28, 2016 Old Kings Highway Regional Historic District We are Chris and Margaret Carr, neighbors directly across the street from Guy Cecchi home on Helmsman Drive in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. It has been brought to our attention that the Old Kings Highway Regional Historic District has rejected the Cecchi's request to install "Solar Panels" on the roof of their home. As supporters of the many necessary responsibilities to maintain the character of the district we also strongly believe that as improvements to our community may not always be consistent and in line with "Historical Character" of the long standing standards of the community, "Solar Panels and Technology " are a technology that must be approved for use based on our struggle to manage our countries energy needs and environment. This is also not in conflict with other new design features such as skylights that have been approved for over 30 years as well as other homes in the district that also have been approved for Solar panels. We have NO objection and believe the OKRHD should approve this request and make it a new acceptable technology to its review process. We thank you for your support on this project We are available for any discussion of further comments at your convenience.
