A minor was unable to purchase tobacco in your store during the August 23, 1999 compliance check. Minors were sent into thirty (30) Yarmouth establishments licensed to sell cigarettes, to attempt purchases. If the clerk asked the minors their age or if the tobacco was for them, the minors told the truth. It is against Massachusetts law and the Yarmouth Board of Health regulation for anyone to sell tobacco products to people under the age of eighteen. We are happy to inform you that your business did not sell tobacco products to a minor during this compliance check. We congratulate you and your employees for complying with the tobacco law and promoting good health among Yarmouth's youth. Other compliance checks will be conducted in the future, and we hope that your business continues to comply with the tobacco law by refusing to sell tobacco products to minors. If you have any questions or comments regarding the above matter, I can be reached at the Health Department at (508)398-2231, ext. 241, Monday through Friday, during the office hours of 9:00- 11:00 a.m. Sincerely, Kelda G.
