1.0 Description and Specifications
Th-e Pulsar" ORP-1 controller is a chemical automation system that continuously monitors and
maintains the pH balance and sanitizer level in a swimming pool or spa,
Features
Adjustable ORP and pH settings
• Integrated flow switch
Individually fused outputs provides protection for other electronic components
• pH calibration
Selectable Options
. Lockout feature
• Acid or base feed
• Overfeed timer
• Interlock between ORP and pH
1.1 Overview of Operation
The Pulsar ORP-i controller has been designed to be user friendly. The pH and ORP levels are
continuously monitored and displayed on the controller's front panel. The pl-I and sanitizer
level (ORP) are displayed using sun -bright seven- segment light emitting diodes. One MODE
button and three SET buttons allow the operator to easily set parameters without scrolling
'through a series of menus,
PH
The pH display range is 6,0 to 8.4 with a 0.1 unit resolution. The pH set point is adjustable
;From 7.0 to 8.0 in 0.1 increments, with a factory default set point of 7.4, During a pH feed
,cycle the pH feed lamp will blink while pH chemicals are being feed. The feed light will
'illuminate continuously if it is in the feed delay portion of the timed feed cycle. The pH Alert
'lamp will illuminate when the pH reading is higher or lower than the pH Alert setpoints and
!will prevent the feeding of pH chemicals.
'ORP
The sanitizer (ORP) display range is 0 to 995 mV with a 5 mV display resolution. The ORP set
:oint is adjustable from 400 to 900 mV, with a factory default set point of 650 mV. During
;an ORP feed cycle the ORP Feed lamp will blink while sanitizer chemicals are being feed.
it he feed light will illuminate continuously if it is in the feed delay portion of the timed feed
i_yele, The ORP Alert lamp will illurninate when the ORP reading is higher or lower than the
[ORP ,alert set points and will prevent the feeding of sanitizer chemicals.

Dosing
The controller can be operated in continuous or timed feed cycle mode. In continuous
mode the controller will dose chemical when the reading is below setpoint and turn off
when the setpoint is satisfied. In timed feed cycle mode, the controller has a series of
adjustable feed times with a fixed delay time. A feed cycle consists of a feed time plus a
delay time. For example, a 30 second feed time followed by the five-minute delay would
have a 5'/a minute feed cycle. The chemical feeder dispenses chemical only during the feed
time portion of the cycle and then waits for a delay period to allow for chemical to dispense
throughout the swimming pool or spa.
When automating the sanitization of any body of water, it is essential to sizes the
chemical feeders to reach the desired levels in a relatively short period of time. Generally,
automating the sanitization of an existing body of water with existing feeders will require
the output of the feeders to be increased. If the feeders are unable to keep up with
demand in a short period of time, automation becomes ineffective.
