Scott-
FYI-Our office has not received any response from the engineer on this project regarding revisions/clarification on the
plan from April 25, 2017 and April 24,2018. The variance(s) being requested may require a formal BOH hearing.

Hi Terry-
I had spoken with you briefly regarding this job. The owner left a copy for our office to review and I have
provided some guidance on items that will need to be addressed when the owner moves forward with the
septic installation. I understand the property has been on the market for a while and the owner has solicited at
least one bid from a local installer.
The items for comment/corrections are listed below:
1. Add a note stating "no abutting foundations within 20' of proposed leach facility" or show the abutting
foundations with the setback distances proving you have the minimum separation.
2. Show the Drainage pipe that runs down Smith Road and empties into the pond. Our local regulation
requires a minimum 100' setback to the drainage pipe if it empties into wetlands. If the separation
distance is less than 70', a formal BOH variance hearing will be required for either the wetland setback
(64.6') or the drainage setback. CONSULT WITH EITHER ME OR BRUCE BEFORE FILING A
REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE. I will consult with Bruce to confirm if he wants to move forward with a
formal BOH hearing or if this will be approved in-house.
3. Our office will grant a 1' variance to groundwater separation in order to lower the system and the
retaining wall to help with lowering the cost of the system installation.
This plan has not been formally submitted by an installer to our office for review. We made a copy from the
owner's copy when he stopped by our office to ask about the process and the concern about the cost of the
system installation. You may want to consult with the owner regarding his timeframe for approval and
installation since our formal BOH variance approvals (if required by Bruce) expire within 90 days of approval.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Amy
