He was concerned that you were asking for the entire site to be reseeded which wasn’t part of the deal under terms of the sale. The terms of the sale are that the seller would provide the property cleared of buildings and graded. I explained that the additional erosion controls (like those already shown on the plan) are needed and aren’t considered permanent improvements and are just part of the demo process. Assuming the costs to add erosion blankets at those two additional spots isn’t exorbitant, Mike said he’s fine with it and will “make it happen”. Two corners of the buildings to be removed are very close to the stream and will leave the bank unstable. I therefore suggested that an erosion control blanket be added in those areas to stop sediment entering the water body until the site can be permanently stabilized. This is not a substantial area or a difficult task. If this creates a conflict with the agreement, we can rely on the erosion control fence to hold back any sediment until the restoration takes place but the Commission may not agree with this. Alternatively, we (i.e. DNR) can go in and install erosion control blanket post demolition. The concern from the Commission will likely be that they don’t know when the restoration will take place so they need to be sure the resource area is protected.
