The planting plan is fine though I was expecting an invasive removal plan also. You can go ahead with the planting but
note that invasives on the bank may still be an issue.

summer is over, the owner is anxious to take advantage of the good planting weather. Please let us know at your earliest

The Commission does not allow new rosa rugosa plantings. Rosa Virginia or rosa Carolina are good alternatives.

We have been working with Jake and his wife on plant selections. They like the look of the rosa rugosa and we have had
very good success with this for erosion control in similar settings.
Before we finish up a planting plan we just wanted to run this by you to make sure this plant will be acceptable.

That is correct. It will take the owner a little time to coordinate the plan, your approval and scheduling the landscaper so
they are scheduling the actual work for September. All of the plants they are considering are recommended for fall
planting as well. We attached two versions showing the buffer location, one full size plan and a second version that will
print to letter size paper.

If the planting won’t be done until the late summer it would make sense to extend the current permit so the work is
permitted. I will add this back on the agenda and see if the Commission will review it under the previous request for
extension. I assume we won’t receive the landscape/invasives management plan before the meeting? If not, are you
able to update the permit plan to show an area of buffer plantings with a note on the plan that a landscape plan will be
submitted to the CA for approval? I can then add it to the file as the approved plan.

We will leave it up to you whether the Order of Conditions should be allowed to expire or if you prefer to extend it
through the fall specifically for the planting (I know we didn’t specifically discuss this but just wanted to share the
afterthought – your call)
Either way the only work to be done will be the plantings, invasive management and erosion control.

I can arrange to have certified copies made of the two COCs and the Extension.
At the meeting on Thursday the Commission voted to deny the extension request. They would like a new NOI filed
detailing the remaining work to be carried out and would like the property owner to address the unpermitted cutting of
the bank vegetation. They also requested a six foot buffer zone of native plantings be added along the bank and
suggested the applicant address bank erosion issues by managing invasive vegetation.

I checked our files and see the requests for COCs for SE83-1290 and SE83-1111 (I attached a copy of the
request for reference) but I don’t see the COC. I also checked the Registry of Deeds online and don’t see
these there either. Any chance you have an original still in your file or maybe we could get a certified
copy that the owner can pick up and record?
Jake – there were outstanding Orders of Conditions that were discovered during the hearing process.
