The Odor Control Room is classified as Hazard, Class 1, Division 1. This classification is due to the presence of the Carbon filter within the room. As a result of this classification the room needs to have a 3-Hr Rating to protect itself from the surrounding structure. This rating is being accomplished through a combination of Shaft-Liner panels on the interior of the interior and exterior walls. Additionally, the ceiling is being treated with 3-Hr rated intumescent paint. The use of the intumescent paint was driven by the clearances needed above the Carbon canister, using shaft-wall in this location would not have worked. The door to this will be a 3-Hr rated door to fully enclose the room in 3-hour protection. This room also requires an ERV within it to provide a minimum of 6 air changes per hour. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to give me a call. Sincerely, Will Chalfant,Project Manager-Khalsa Design, Inc. CC: File
