Town of Yarmouth Board of Health - 1146 Main Street • South Yarmouth , MA 02664 - Re : Lot 26 , Great Island Road Dear Bruce : On Monday , December 28 , 1992 , Schofield Brothers was called to the above referenced site to inspect the sewage system installation . The contractor informed us that he had encountered suitable material at a higher elevation than shown in the soil tests and that they had placed the pits and stone in this suitable material . Dave Mason and I observed sand in the sidewalls of the 2 pit excavations at the top of the stone and in the bottom of the precast pit liners . In reference to Note #10 on the Site Plan , I climbed into the western pit and dug a four foot hole verifying clean sand beneath the pit and no ground water. I also had the contractor dig an additional hole in the driveway near the eastern pit . We encountered : • 0 ' - 4 ' Hardening , subsoil and till 4 ' - 10 ' Medium coarse sand . Based on this information and other information supplied by the - contractor , it is our opinion that the pits are placed at a depth not requiring a 10 foot perimeter excavation . - In reference to Note #20 , the contractor also water tested the D-Box in my presence and it was satisfactorily level .
