Dear Patrick:
As discussed,this letter will confirm that there have been some minor changes to the design for the house
during the course of construction. None of these changes has altered in any appreciable way the design
which was submitted for permit,and the work continues to conform with the requirements of the
Massachusetts State Building Code-780 CMR-9s'Edition.
An example of these changes is the reconfiguration and replacement of the stone paving at the exterior with
wood decking flush with grade. As the decking on the north side of the house intrudes on the required
setback from the coastal bank,an intrusion previously approved by the Conservation Commission for stone
paving,this change in configuration and material has been re-submitted to the Conservation Commission
and has received their approval.
The stairs between the basement and second floor were shown at small scale on the set submitted for
permit. While the basic configuration and location of the stairs have not changed,during the course of
construction we have provided details for the stairs and railings,always ensuring that they meet the
requirements of 780 CMR.
