SCOPE:
ADD & RELOCATE SPRINKLERS ON THE FIRST FLOOR FOR EXISTING T�NANT RENOVATIONS. PROJECT
WILL BE DONE IN 4 PHASES. NEW SPRINKLERS SHALL BE CONCEALED DRY PENDENT HEADS.
EXISTING SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO REMAIN ON 2ND FLOOR AND ATTIC AREAS.
EXISTING CONDITIONS:
- EXISTING SPRINKLER RISER TO REMAIN WITH BACKFLOW AND DRY ALARM CHECK VALVE.
- EXISTING MAINS & BRANCH LINES TO REMAIN THROUGHOUT.
- EXISTING UPRIGHTS TO REMAIN ABOVE CEILINGS TO PROTECT COMBUSTIBLE CONCEALED SPACES.

DESIGN CRITERIA:
EXISTING OCCUPANCY IS AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. NEW RENOVATIONS WiLL NOT AFFECT THE EXISTING
DESIGN. OCCUPANCY IS LIGHT HAZARD PER NFPA 13 (2013). �
ORIGINAL HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS ARE STILL VALID, WITH THE SCOPE OF WORK NOT AFFECTING
THE DESIGN.
THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM FOR THIS RETROFIT PROJECT IS AN EXISTING WET PIPE SYSTEM. SCOPE
OF WORK IS TO INCLUDE ONE-FOR-ONE SPRINKLER HEAD RELOCATE. ONE EXISTING SPRINKLER
OUTLET SHALL SUPPLY ONLY ONE SPRINKLER. THE PIPE SIZING AND SPACING OF THE RELOCATED
SPRINKLERS SHALL REMAIN CONSISTENT WITH THE EXISTING LAYOUT AND PIPE SIZE SCHEDULE
ALREADY DETERMINED AND INSTALLED IN THE EXISTING BUILDING. ANY NEW PIPING/LINES

3. ALL MATERIALS, DEVICES AND HANGERS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR
LISTINGS AND APPLICABLE NFPA ENGINEERING STANDARDS.
4. ALL NEW SPRINKLER PIPING 1 1/2" AND LARGER SHALL BE BLACK SCHEDULE 10 PIPE WITH
MECHANICAL TEES AND ROLL-GROOVED ENDS WITH GROOVED FITTINGS AND COUPLINGS.
5. ALL NEW 1" PIPE SHALL BE BLACK SCHEDULE 40 PIPE WITH THREADED ENDS AND D.I.
THREADED FITTINGS.
6. ALL RELOCATED SPRINKLERS ARE DONE WITH SCHEDULE 40 BLACK PIPE WITH THREADED
ENDS AND FITTINGS.
7. SPRINKLERS SHALL BE CENTERED IN ACT CEILING TILES.
8, OWNER SHALL PROVIDE ADEQUATE HEAT TO PREVENT ANY WET-PIPE SPRINKLER PIPING FROM
FREEZING. OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE TO MAINTAIN THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE
THE LATES EDITION OF NFPA 25. "INSPECTION, TESTING, AND MAINTENANCE OF
WATER-BASED FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS". AND/OR ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE
AND/OR LOCAL LAWS, CODES AND ORD�NANCES.
9. ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING OF TAMPER AND FLOW SWITCNES TO BE DONE BY A LICENSED
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR.
