Verizon Wireless has identified certain coverage gaps and network capacity issues with its wireless service in Yarmouth in the vicinity of the subject water tank that could be alleviated by installing a new wireless facility in the area. A search of the neighborhood did not reveal any existing cell towers or other tall buildings that could host a wireless installation; but the subject water tank was discovered and deemed suitable to solve this problem. Verizon Wireless proposes to facade -mount its antennas and transmission equipment up under the cornice of the water tank's roof and then 21ace accessory equipment, including a propane -fueled stand-by power generator, on -grade behind the water tank surrounded a so to shield the equipment from view. Application is respectfully being made to the Town as an Eligible Facilities Request under federal telecommunications law which encourages the shared use of existing structures that already host other FCC licensed wireless installations. (47 U.S.C. 1455 and 47 C.F.R. 1.40001). Sprint Spectrum (which acquired Nextel) and Open Cape Corporation, and the Town of Yarmouth all currently operate wireless installaf ions on the subject water tank.
