Our apologies for the misunderstanding. While it was our intent to replace our old rotted fence with exactly the same style again in wood,there was a misunderstanding with Bennett Fence,the company who installed our metal fence last year. We made the quote request for the replacement while wintering in Florida but due to Covid-19 returned late to Yarmouthport only 2 days before the installation. This is when we realized they made the fence in Vinyl without our knowledge and it had already been paid for. Our request was for the same exact fence and they noted that but sent us a bill that said vinyl and we didn't catch it. So,ultimately,we were both at fault and all parties acknowledge this. But,since it has already been installed and is not of the shiny variety, and there are already many homes in the area with vinyl fencing, we wish to seek an exception from the board and will be happy to fill out the appropriate paperwork and/or come before the board to do so. On the subject of our landscaping,we were deeply saddened,disheartened and offended by the idea that you feel our home"takes away from the character,charm and esthetics of this beautiful stretch of scenic highway". With pride,we have worked very hard and have taken great care to be good stewards of this home and at serious expense to repair and enhance this beautiful property. In fact,on any given day we receive no less than 3 and sometimes more than 10 compliments from passersby thanking us for bringing such significant value and beauty to the neighborhood. This praise has been so frequent that we could have never predicted receiving such a notice from you. We would welcome a site visit from someone on your committee so that we might seek a mutually agreeable solution to your complaint. We also respectfully request a copy of the complaints you have received. In fact,I'm sure all of our neighbors would be interested as we have been welcomed with open arms from these deeply-rooted Yarmouthport people and no one can understand who would be bullying us in this fashion or why.
