I see a violation on file for bank clearing that created erosion issues. I would be interested to see if restoration was carried out per the memos on file. I will be in town on Thursday and can meet onsite if you are available. At the moment 9am is free or about 11.30am. Call the sender to verify if unsure. Otherwise delete this email. Hi Kelly; I have a client on 134 Blue Rock Road that has a set of access stairs that were damaged in a storm earlier in the season. I've attached the permit plan and permit from the town's records. OOC #474 was for the septic, but I attached the registry copy so you have that for your records, as well as the other recorded copies. The stairs were built (or rebuilt; I don't know) with two very long spans, and huge timbers, when the plans show multiple 4x4 landings down the slope. The stairs have shifted about halfway off the dock, and are leaning over. This happened because of a slippage in the bank slope from erosion. There's nothing at the bottom of this slope. The stairs are still walkable, but they make me nervous. 1 So, first of all, he needs to repair the stairs and put them back in line with the dock. We'd like to replace two of the 6x6 piles at the bottom end of the dock, and put in "real" piles to take the weight of the stairs. We'd also like to add just one 4'x4' landing half way down, which would push the stairs out farther from the bank. My question is two fold: First, could this be justified as an emergency repair (when you see it you'll see what I mean; it's definately a danger to anyone strolling the beach at low tide). Second, can I use the record plan and do this with a sketch plan; that will save months not having to wait for a surveyor. I didn't take any pictures, and I'm pretty sure you want to see this. I'm happy to meet you out there any time. Please advise, Thanks. -- Mark Burgess Shorefront Consulting B.S.
