Hi Shrinath and Shyla
You will need to file a Request for Amended Order of Conditions if you wish to put in a solid foundation. Enclosing the
foundation will alter storm flowage so you will need to demonstrate that there is no negative impacts to adjacent
wetlands and property. The checklist for the request can be found here (scroll to bottom of the page).

Dear Kelly,
Hope you and family are well in these crazy covid times.
Shyla and I are owners of 5 New Hampshire Ave, West Yarmouth. We had applied with conservation for
modification/addition to the current structure last spring(2019). The commission approved the design/plan after
suggesting that we move the structure 8 feet towards the street and with some order of conditions.
As you are aware, the house sits on a set of pilings and to rebuild after demolition, the costs are becoming very
expensive to demolish the house and keep the existing pilings intact. Demolition companies can demolish the
structure including the pilings at a reasonable cost.

We got back to the architect to discuss our options. He suggested that one way to go about this is to have a 4'
foundation at the perimeter of the structure and not have pilings at all. This way it becomes a lot affordable to us
and a better structure. The living area would still be at the raised height in the plan. We wanted to see if this
alternate approach would need to go through the conservation or an administrative matter for the building
department or conservation?
If you would like to discuss this, we could either meet at the house with our architect or have a zoom meeting so
we are all on the same page. Please let us know when you are available to meet physical or virtual.
Attached to this email are the order of conditions and plans.
Thank you so much for your help. We like to do what is right for the environment and conserve the beautiful
habitat.
Best Regards,
Shrinath & Shyla
