Hi Debora
I received your application in the mail yesterday. These items need to be addressed for the RDA application to be
deemed complete:
1. 1.b Area Description – this is a coastal beach and coastal dune on Nantucket Sound
2. 2.a Work Description – Installation of sand fence for the accumulation of windblown sand to build beach and
dune area. Fence will be composed of wood slates and wire with 50% open space and 50% slats. Posts will be
2”x4” installed at 4 foot (please note change from 3 feet) intervals in a zig zag formation with an offset of ??
(please advise) feet. Posts will be buried to a depth of 4 feet and will extend to a height of 4 feet. The sand
fence will be installed at the toe of the existing dune. Work shall be carried out using hand tools only. No heavy
equipment will be deployed within the beach or dune area.
3. Check for $10 required for legal ad fee.
4. 1 original copy (with above amendments)
5. 7 copies of first and second pages of application plus any plans.
6. Proof of mailing to MassDEP
Once I have these items I will schedule the application for review by the Commission.
I have again attached the sand fencing guidelines and the checklist for your information.

Hello,
I am applying with the conservation commission to install a sand fence on the beach at my property
located on Nantucket Sound. I was told I need to send a copy to the Natural Heritage Endangered
Species Program.
