Dear Old King's Highway Historic District Committee,
I am the owner of the property at 467 Route 6A in Yarmouthport,
Massachusetts, and my daughter, Victoria Krukowski, and her husband and
children live in the house. I do not currently live there.
I am in agreement with my daughter's interest in having a stone wall built
around the front of the property. I think it is a good idea, and it will give
them peace of mind, and help protect the family in the case of an car
accident at the corner.
Sincerely,
1?.(A/7/-<,14—'

ULD KING'S HIGH_ VAY
OLD KING'S HIGHWAY
Hello, we would like to apply for a Certificate of Exemption for a protective wall that we would
like to have built. The wall is intended to wrap around the front and side of our home. We live at
467 Route 6A in Yarmouthport, on the busy corner of 6A and Union Street.
We have studied some of the other stone walls we have seen in Yarmouthport and Dennis, and
consulted with Tyler Hale of Cape Cod Stoneworks. I was also thrilled to come across an old
photo of our home from the early 1900s which showed a fence around the front of the property,
and a gate. (I love old photos and history of this area!) I have attached the photo to this email.
We would like to keep the wall to 30 inches in height. The main purpose would be to help
protect my husband and I along with our seven kids from the potential of any vehicles coming
through the yard and striking the house in the event of a vehicle accident. Having lived here for
about 15 months now, we can definitely say that there are several accidents at this corner, and
drivers tend to speed excessively, despite the playground right across the street.
Because of the pandemic and limited office hours, as well as the likelihood that meetings are
taking place electronically, I have sent the application via email. I would be happy to mail the
hard copies if that would also be a good idea.
Should I mail the check for the processing fee directly to the Town Office? I was not 100% sure
what the total fee would be, so if you could let me know what amount to send, I would
appreciate that,
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Victoria Krukowski

On page 22 where it says that stone walls not exceeding 30 inches in height, it also asks for a site
plan. A plot plan showing the location of the house on the lot is not enough. They need to draw the
proposed location on the drawing and give its location (in feet) from the house and from the road.
I thought I had made that clear already. A certificate of "exemption" does not mean that you can do
anything you want. It means that you don't have to come before the entire committee and present it to
the public at a public meeting.

Hello Richard,
Have you reviewed this with the plot plan I forwarded you? The agent said it is a wall under 30
inches.
Thank you,

Grayce, it looks ok from OKH point of view. I would check with the Engineering Dept. The worry is
obstruction of view. 6A is a State Road. I don't know if they need to weigh in. Engineering should
know.

Hi, Grayce!
I did some measuring on our property at 467 Route 6A in Yarmouthport after I noticed a
slight "depression" in the yard which seems to be consistent with where the fence used to be. It
seems to be 9.5 - 10 feet from the road(6A and Union Street corner).
We also talked with our neighbors at 463 Route 6A, Bob and Ellen Babin, who also have a nice
fence in the front of their yard. They said it might be a good idea to use their fence as a reference
point as to how far back it needs to be from the road, since they also apparently
obtained approval when they had it constructed.
After running all this by Tyler Hale from Cape Cod Stoneworks, he asked me to make the
attached drawing of the wall's planned position. Granted, I am no artist nor professional
surveyor! But, I did my best and I hope it helps.
It would be great to be able to begin the construction next week if that is possible with the
committee.
Thank you so much!
I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Victoria Krukowsi
