Correspondence 8.12.2020 Grant, Kelly From:Grant, Kelly Sent:Wednesday, August 12, 2020 9:28 AM To:'Nicole and Craig Whitten' Subject:Phragmites treatment information Attachments:90 Nottingham Drive aerial images.pdf; DOA 2004 vegetation work (2).pdf; DOA - 90 Nottingham Dr - Plot Plan.pdf Hi Craig As discussed yesterday, here are a couple of resources on managing phragmites. https://plantscience.psu.edu/research/projects/wildland-weed-management/publications/invasive-species- quicksheets/phragmites https://www.ecolandscaping.org/07/landscape-challenges/invasive-plants/successfully-managing-phragmites/ I will look into what the permitting requirements will be for this work. I have attached a couple of aerial images from google earth. Can you confirm that this is the extent of the area of phragmites growth that has been mowed in the past? I will also speak with the chairman about the tree removal though I think because some of these trees are in the wetland resource area and 35 foot no-disturb zone you will need to file a Request for Determination of Applicability. I have attached one you have done in the past – it is a fairly simple process. Alternatively you can wait and include all the work in one application (phrag and tree work). Information on filing is here: http://www.yarmouth.ma.us/696/Filing-Forms Thanks Kelly Grant Conservation Administrator Town of Yarmouth 508-398-2231 Ext 1288 kgrant@yarmouth.ma.us 1
