Hi Karen and Grayce, Unless there is more recent inventory information that hasn't been uploaded to MACRIS yet, this property is not on the National Register of Historic Places and thus its demolition would not trigger a mandatory DRI under Cape Cod Commission purview. MACRIS only shows it as being part of a neighborhood that has been inventoried. The MACRIS Area Form for Hyannis Park does not circle or otherwise identify this building as one of the historically significant properties in the neighborhood, though a lot of time has passed since 1979 when the survey was done. Is this one of the areas that was re-surveyed by Gray and Pape in recent years? The intended purpose of the total demolition is to enable construction of a new home. A demolition permit application was filed with the Building Department on January 28, 2021 by Doug Mullen of Mullen Building & Remodeling , LLC. on behalf of Jessica and Brandon Zelch. This application along with a Notice of Intent to Demolish was considered by the Yarmouth Historical Commission at their meeting on February 11, 2021. While noting that the house was over 75 years old the Commission agreed that the structure was not historically significant., subject to consultation with the Cape Cod Commission regarding possible jurisdiction. Staff consulted with the Commission who confirmed they had no jurisdiction. Accordingly, the applicant can proceed with demolition. Thank you.
