The landing, staked out, wound up on the beach BELOW the area we want the landing at. This doesn't match anything we wanted, and the bank couldn't have eroded this much. So I don't know how it got there, but you and I agree with where we want it. The top of the landing staked out within 2 inches of where I drew it, so go figure; I don't know. We then staked out the bulkhead southern end with the return per the plan, that's the next two pictures. Then #2845 shows a stake close up, with a pink stake for where the landward end of the return is per the plan. I moved that over to the left (south) to clear the landing, but the stake in the foreground (the original corner) will stay per the plan. The southern end and return wind up just at the base of the scarp where you were asking about putting the sheeting "slicing" through the landing area. So, since it winds up at the base of the scarp, and fully seaward of where we want to put the landing, we can put the bulkhead where it was shown on the plan and it will protect the upper landing scarp area without slicing through it. The fiber rolls will end up in front of the bulkhead base at that end for a transition in that area. The landing will be very close to where it was staked yesterday; depending on the stair layout, it will be either more landward and higher, but not more seaward than you saw it. I've asked the contractor to lay it out and then I'll take a look at it before they do anything. As for the location of the bulkhead along the base of the existing scarp, the contractor confirmed that the sheeting is going behind the timber false work. The staked out location of the bulkhead in that location is about 1.5 feet seaward, so we're going to keep it pushed back into the slope where it is, and not per the plan along the beach. See picture #2847 that shows a stake in front of the falsework; that's the bulkhead location per the plan. As for the north end, we staked out the town property line corner and line down to the beach. Again, the bulkhead will be pushed to the base of the existing scarp, and the end return will be where we showed it on the plan. 1 Picture #2849 shows a pink flagged stake; that's the town line, and the orange stakes show the bulkhead line landward of that pink flagged stake. Basically, the two bulkhead ends will be per the plan, and the middle will be landward to work with the existing conditions. Clear as mud, right? -- Mark Burgess Shorefront Consulting B.S.
