With white or red plastic housings, wall or ceiling mounting options, and plain or FIRE-printed devices, SpectrAlert Advance can meet virtually any application requirement, including indoor, outdoor, wet, and dry applications in temperatures from −40°F to 151°F. Like the entire SpectrAlert Advance line, outdoor horns, strobes, and horn strobes for wall applications include a variety of features that increase application flexibility and simplify installation. First, field-selectable settings, including candela, automatic selection of 12- or 24-volt operation, horn tones, and three volume options enable installers to easily adapt devices to meet requirements. Next, SpectrAlert Advance devices use a universal mounting plate for both wall and ceiling applications. This mounting plate includes an onboard shorting spring that ensures wiring continuity before devices are installed, so installers can verify proper wiring without mounting the devices and exposing them to potential construction damage. Once the plates are mounted, all SpectrAlert Advance devices utilize a plug-in design with a single captured screw to speed installation and virtually eliminate costly ground faults. Outdoor devices ship with weatherproof plastic back boxes (metal back boxes are available separately) that accommodate in-and- out wiring for daisy chaining devices. Plastic back boxes feature removable side flanges and improved resistance to saltwater corrosion. Knock-outs located on the back eliminate the need to drill holes for screw-in mounting. Plastic and metal weatherproof back boxes come with ¾-inch top and bottom conduit entries and ¾-inch knock-outs at the back. A screw-in NPT plug with an O-ring gasket for a watertight seal is included with each back box. Outdoor Selectable- Output Horns, Strobes, and Horn Strobes for Wall Applications SpectrAlert® Advance outdoor audible visible products are rich with features that cut installation times and maximize profits. Model Number 7020BSL (CAT 1038335) is a wire-in, 120V AC 60Hz single and/or multiple station photoelectric smoke alarm with integrated 177 candela LED strobe light specifically designed for residential and institutional applications including sleeping rooms of hospitals, hotels, motels, public housing, dormitories and other multifamily dwellings as defined in standard NFPA 101. Model 7020BSL complies with UL217, UL1971, CSFM, NFPA 72, HUD, FHA and other agencies that model their codes after the above agencies. They meet building codes where AC with battery backup, silence, photoelectric smoke alarms are required. The alarms are inter-connectable with up to 18 devices, of which 12 can be smoke alarms. The BRK 7020BSL alarms feature a photoelectric smoke sensing chamber, an integrated 177 LED candela strobe light, an 85dB horn and sealed 3V lithium battery capable of providing backup power for alarm over 10 year alarm life. The Strobe Light is designed to provide deaf & hard of hearing individuals with a visual warning of a fire. The Smart Strobe has separate flash patterns for smoke/ heat and carbon monoxide dangers (when connected to a First Alert CO alarm). This helps a hearing impaired person better distinguish the danger present. The 177 candela LED strobe meets UL 1971 requirements and flashes at a rate of an average of 60 times a minute. The LED flash is also synchronized so when multiple units installed, strobes flash in unison. This alarm features two latching features and two silence features. Alarm Latch: Easily identifies initiating alarm even after alarm condition has subsided. Low Battery Latch: Identifies which unit is in low battery condition by blinking the green power light. Low Battery Silence: Temporarily silence the low battery chirp for up to eight hours. Alarm Silence: Silence alarm for several minutes. Optipath 360 technology provides 360 degrees of direct access to the smoke sensing chamber. Other Contractor preferred features include a dust cover, easy twist-lock mounting bracket and a “Quick-Connect” wiring harness. 120V AC, 60Hz Wire-in with 10 Year Sealed Lithium Battery Backup SMOKE ALARM & LED STROBE PHOTOELECTRIC UL 1971Standards UL 217& Listed to 10YEAR ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING SPEC TECHNICAL SPECS UL 1971 Signaling Devices Light Dispersion Chart SHIPPING SPECSINSTALLATION OF ALARM The integrated strobe light & smoke alarm shall be a BRK Model 7020BSL and shall provide at a minimum the following features and functions:1. The HPFF8 and HPFF8CM con- nects to any 12 or 24V Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) or operates stand-alone. They provide regulated and filtered 24VDC power to four NAC's and an auxiliary output. The NAC outputs are rated at 3.0 amps each and the auxiliary output is rated at 2.0 amps (this output is continuously supplied, even in alarm, and there- fore must be taken into account for power supply loading and battery size calculations). The combined output cannot exceed 8.0 amps. The HPFF8 and HPFF8CM provide independent output circuit supervision so in the event of a NAC fault they can notify the attached FACP. In addition they have a trouble memory fea- ture that displays past troubles (by NAC) for rapid diagnostics. Synchronization is built in for five appliance brands. The HPFF8 and HPFF8CM have two fully independent super- vised initiating circuits that can be used for synchronized strobes and coded horns. Their NAC outputs may be config- ured as any of the following: • four Class B (Style Y) •two Class A (Style Z) • two Class B and one Class A • four Class A with the optional HPP31076 Class A adapter These power supplies contain an internal Battery charger capable of charging up to 26.0 amp-hour (AH) batteries. The HPFF8 is mounted in a lockable wall cabinet that can accommodate up to two 18AH batteries. The HPFF8CM is designed to mount in Honeywell’s large equipment enclosure (EQBB-D4; order separately). Up to four HPFF8CM supplies can be mounted in a D-sized EQ cabinet. Each HPFF8CM can accommodate two 12AH batteries. One of the most challenging aspects of a retrofit application is locating the existing End-of-Line (EOL) resistor. In these appli- cations that have EOL values other than the 3.9k normally used with the HPFF8, a single resistor matching the existing EOL can be used as a reference for all the outputs. This fea- ture speeds installation and system checkout because the actual EOL does not need to be located and changed in the circuit. The reference resistor must be within the range of 1.9k to 25k. NOTE: 4 separate programming resistors for the HPFF8 are pro- vided in the hardware kit shipped with each HPFF8(E) and HPFF8CM(E). They are 3.9K (5 of these are provided, need only 1 for programming), 2.2K (1 each), 4.7K (1 each) and 10K (1 each) Features • Listed to UL Standard 864, 9th edition. • Four (4) power limited supervised notification application circuits (NAC's) capable of supplying +24VDC at 3.0 amp maximum each. • NAC output circuits may be configured as any of the follow- ing: –Four Class B (Style Y). –Two Class B & one Class A. –Two Class A (Style Z). –Four Class A (requires the HPP31076 Class A adapter). • Four field-programmable operational modes: –Pass-through. –Temporal generator. –Sync generator. –Pass-through Filtered. • Temporal coding and sync protocols compatible with the fol- lowing notification appliance brands: –System Sensor. –Faraday. –Amseco. –Cooper-Wheelock. –Gentex. • Protocol pass-through for synchronizing large systems. • Two fully independent supervised input/output control circuits. • Redundant activation operation for survivability. • Supports FACP’s Selectable Silence ability. • 2.0 amp auxiliary continuously supplied output. • Eight status LEDs. • Supervised AC input, battery voltage, auxiliary output, char- ger, and earth ground faults. • Trouble indication for supervision of the following: –NAC circuits. –Auxiliary output. –AC input. –Battery charger voltage. –Earth ground faults. • Optional two-hour delay for AC loss.
