2.1
May 03, 2021
A site walk took place on April 3rd 2021 to review tree clearing as requested by the contractor. John Luca of Traverse walked
the site with Ryan Dirico of Commodore, Mitch Miller of PMA, and Steve Faucher of DY Regional District. Site clearing was
completed per Civil demolition plans. Traverse and Commodore confirmed that construction fencing will be installed after
clearing is completed. Multiple questions/comments arose during the site walk and will be issued as RFI's by the contractor.
Topics and observations are as follows:
1. Mr. Faucher recommended additional tree clearing of the north western property line adjacent to the High School JV
baseball field and explained that the remaining trees in that area could be susceptible to wind exposure. The trees in
question are outside of the contractual project site and will need additional approval. (Photos 1-2)
2. A single mature Oak tree remains adjacent to an abutter off of Haywood Ave. Mr. Dirico of Commodore will request
additional as-built information on the trees location in relation to the property line. Traverse recommended that the tree and
root system be properly protected/trimming during construction per specification 015639 Tree Protection and Trimming. All
parties agreed. (Photos 3-4)
3. Proposed parking lot near the elementary school will be in the drip line of a young oak tree. Commodore has asked
Traverse if the tree will survive post construction, or if its removal is necessary prior to construction. Traverse recommends
that the proper steps are taken to improve the chances of the oak tree, refer to specification 015639 Tree Protection and
Trimming. (Photo 5)
4. All trees between the admin building, and north towards the existing parking lot have been removed per the direction of
Superintendent of Schools, Carol Woodbury. Mr. Dirico explained that stumps would be cleared opposite the parking lot from
the Admin. building, but not directly adjacent to the building. Clearing around the Admin. building was outside of contract
limits.(Photos 6-7)
5. Most of the tree line off Station Ave. adjacent to the proposed Station Ave athletic field have been cleared. Mr. Faucher
inquired if additional proposed vegetation screening/fencing may be required. One mature Pine tree shall remain. (Photos 8-
9).
6. Mr.Dirico made known that the proposed sidewalk along Station Ave. may have to be adjusted per the existing surface
utilities (Utility pole, man holes, ect.) Traverse to review. (Photo 10)
7. Mr.Dirico made known that a utility pole was not located accurately per the survey at the Station Ave. intersection near the
Administration Building. Contractor to address with PMP. (Photo 11).
