Having just moved to Yarmouth last August I only became aware I was living in the Old King's Highway Historic District when I received your violation notice on December 24, 2020. I realize it is my responsibility to obtain knowledge of all regulations. You can imagine my shock upon receiving the Certification of Appropriateness Application Package, especially since many long-time locals knew of our plans to erect a fence and never informed us of the district existence (Local Realtor, Fence Company and many neighbors) After communicating with the committee through Grayce, I am proposing to install an appropriate wooden fence along the sides of the house (See Figure 2)that can be seen from the street. 25 feet on the left and 15 feet on the right. (See Figure 3 &4) I am requesting the above approval of the appropriate wooden fence at a height of 6 feet for the following reasons. • To keep our three dogs from leaving the property (See Figure 5) • To prevent our weekly coyote visit from entering the property (See Figure 6) • To prevent our dogs from jumping over the fence. They are capable of leaping shorter fences (See Figure 7) I hope you will look favorably on my proposal and application package. The applicant agrees to extend the time frame within which a determination is to be made as required by the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District Act. SECTION 9-Meetings,Hearings, Time for Making Determinations "As soon as convenient after such public hearing; but in any event within forty-five (45) days after the filing of application, or within such further time as the applicant shall allow in writing, the Committee shall make a determination on the application.
