Section 01 4000 “Quality Requirements” for definition of mockups and for administrative and procedural requirements for quality assurance and quality control. 2. Section 01 4339 “Mockups” for exterior wall mockups that consist of Work specified in more than one Section of the specifications. 3. Section 01 7329 “Cutting And Patching” for cutting and patching requirements for repair and restoration of construction disturbed by the construction of rejected in-place mockups. 4. Division 02 through 33 Sections for: a. Specific requirements and materials applicable to in-place mockups. b. Requirements for field testing and inspection of in-place mockups to determine compliance with specified requirements. 1.3 DEFINITIONS A. In-Place Mockups: In-place mockups are full-size physical assemblies that are mockups constructed “in-place” in the building and not intended to be disposable unless rejected as non-compliant. In-place mockups are constructed to verify selections made under Sample submittals; to demonstrate aesthetic effects and, where indicated, qualities of materials and execution; to review coordination, testing, or operation; to show interface between dissimilar materials; and to demonstrate compliance with specified installation tolerances. In-place mockups are not Samples. Unless otherwise indicated, approved in-place mockups establish the standard by which the Work will be judged 1.4 IN-PLACE MOCKUPS, GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. Intent of In-Place Mockups: Provide in-place mockups to obtain Owner's and Architect's approval of in-place mockups prior to production work and to identify and resolve problems, if any, before proceeding with the Work. The intent of in-place mockups is to identify and resolve problems, if any, early-on to minimize remedial work. B. Lighting: Provide final lighting or accurate simulation of final lighting before Owner's and Architect's review of in-place mockups. If final lighting or accurate simulation of final lighting is not provided, Owner and Architect will only provide conditional approval subject to final approval Dennis Yarmouth Intermediate Middle School January 19, 2021 Dennis Yarmouth Regional School District 100% Construction Documents Perkins Eastman DPC, project #71011 IN-PLACE MOCKUPS 01 4339.13 - 2 when reviewed under final lighting. Conditionally approved in-place mockups may be rejected after being reviewed under final lighting. C. Rejected In-Place Mockups: Owner or Architect may reject in-place mockups for subjective or discretionary decisions reguarding appearance. Owner and Architect may reject in-place mockups even if smaller "selection samples" or "verification samples" were previously approved. Remove and replace rejected in-place mockups at no additional cost to Owner until acceptable appearance is achieved. There is no limit on the number of rejected and replacement in-place mockups that may be required. D. Additional Requirements for In-Place Mockups: 1. Do not assume in-place mockups will be approved. 2. Do not order materials in production quantities until in-place mockups are approved. 3. Do not proceed with production work until in-place mockups are approved. 4. Provide in-place mockups at the earliest possible time. 5. Locate in-place mockups where indicated or pre-approved by Architect. 6. Preserve and protect in-place mockups as examples of accepted work. 7. Do not alter or destroy approved in-place mockups. 8. Incorporate approved in-place mockups into the final work. 9. Make production work visually match approved in-place mockups.
