REMEDIAL WORK TO CORRECT ERRORS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions and other Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. Section includes general requirements and procedures for remedial work to correct errors.
B. Related Requirements:
1. Section 01 4000 “Quality Requirements” for administrative and procedural requirements
for quality assurance and quality control.
2. Section 01 7329 "Cutting And Patching" for general cutting and patching requirements.
1.3 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS
A. Make Submittals in accordance with Section 01 3300 “Submittal Procedures.”
B. Make a unique submittal for each instance of remedial work to correct errors. Each submittal
shall include:
1. Identification, description, and location of work requiring remedial work to correct errors.
2. Date work requiring remedial work to correct errors was originally completed.
3. Date work requiring remedial work to correct errors was discovered to require
remediation.
4. Explanation of why remedial work to correct errors is necessary.
5. Description of proposed remedial work to correct errors.
6. Submittals for all proposed patching materials and products including, without limitation,
manufacturer's product data, instructions, recommendations, and restrictions.
7. Submittals of scaled drawings showing proposed remedial work to correct errors.
1.4 REQUIREMENTS
A. Applicability: Remedial work to correct errors includes cutting and patching associated with:
1. Construction errors including, without limitation, defective, non-conforming, ill-timed, and
improperly fitting work.
2. Removing samples of installed work and related patching for testing, inspection, and
verification.
3. Removing installed work and related patching to expose concealed work for testing,
inspection, and verification, if the work was concealed prematurely before testing,
inspection, and verification.
B. Filed Sub-Bidders and subcontractors shall coordinate their work with General Contractor to
avoid the necessity of remedial work to correct errors.

1. Each Filed Sub-Bidder and subcontractor shall pay for remedial work to correct errors
due to their error and their failure to coordinate their work with General Contractor.
C. Employ skilled trade workers to perform remedial work to correct errors.
D. Cutting and Patching: Comply with Section 01 7300 “Execution” for cutting and patching
requirements.
1.5 REMEDIAL WORK TO CORRECT ERRORS RELATING TO STRUCTURAL ASSEMBLIES
A. For all remedial work to correct errors related to the building’s structural assemblies, including
but not limited to structural concrete, structural steel, structural decking, structural light gage
steel framing, structural wood, structural connections, and other structural assemblies, comply
with Section 01 4000 “Quality Requirements” for engineering to be performed by Contractor,
including but not limited to:
1. Engineer's qualifications.
2. Professional liability, errors and omissions insurance for design professionals employed
by Contractor.
3. Indemnification of Owner.
4. Engineering requirements including "minimum requirements" for the work.
5. Engineer's responsibilities.
6. Substitutions.
7. Limitations of Architect's review.
B. Engineer, calculate, design, document, prepare, professionally seal, sign, and submit structural
calculations, shop fabrication drawings, erection and installation drawings, and all other
documents needed.
C. Certify that remedial work to correct errors is equivalent to or stronger than the original work.
