Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: 1. Steel headed stud anchors for use in composite beam construction B. Related Requirements: 1. Section 03 3000 “Cast-in-Place Concrete” 2. Section 05 1200 "Structural Steel Framing" 3. Section 05 3100 “Steel Decking”. C. Scope: 1. The work to be done shall, in general, consist of the following major items. (Minor work, work incidental to or arising from other parts of this work may not be listed hereunder but shall be included as may be necessary for the full completion of the job.) 2. Furnishing and erecting, placing or setting of shear connectors field welded to steel framing as shown and noted on the drawings. Replacement (if required) of connectors which are not properly attached to steel framing. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS: A. Shear connectors shall be 3/4 inch diameter, headed type, 3 inches in length. B. Shear connectors shall be manufactured in accordance with AISC Specifications (14th Edition). PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. All connectors shall be field welded to the structural steel in accordance with AISC requirements, and AWS D1.1/D1.1M specification. B. Connectors may be welded through the metal deck or directly to the structural steel members. C. Place shear connectors in the flutes of the metal deck; coordinate layout with metal deck layout and flute configuration. Place shear connectors evenly along the beam length in quantities specified spaced in accordance with AISC requirements. 3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Testing Agency: The owner will engage a qualified independent testing and inspecting agency to inspect installed shear connectors and to perform field tests and prepare test and inspection reports. B. Defective or otherwise ineffective shear connectors (in the opinion of the testing lab or Engineer) shall be replaced with new connectors conforming to the above specification.
