Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section includes composite framing support (CFS) system with in-fill insulation. B. Related Requirements: 1. Section 04 2000 “Unit Masonry” for CMU walls. 2. Section 05 4000 "Cold-Formed Metal Framing" for metal stud wall framing. 3. Section 06 1000 "Rough Carpentry" for wood blocking and nailers. 4. Section 06 1600 "Sheathing" for wall sheathing. 5. Section 07 2100 “Thermal Insulation” for therrmal insulation not specified in this Section. 6. Section 07 2715 “Non-Bituminous Self-Adhering Sheet Air Barriers” for air barrier installed over sheathing, behind composite framing. 7. Section 07 2726 “Fluid-Applied Membrane Air Barriers” for air barrier installed over CMU, behind composite framing. 8. Section 07 4213.23 “Metal Composite Material (MCM) Wall Panels” for wall panels installed over composite framing. 9. Section 07 4246 “High-Performance Cementitious Wall Panels” for wall panels installed over composite framing. 1.3 COORDINATION A. Coordinate construction of wall cladding support system over substrate indicated for proper drainage, flashing, trim, back-up support, soffits, and other related Work. 1. Review and finalize construction schedule. 2. Verify availability of materials, installer's personnel, equipment, and facilities needed to maintain schedule. 3. Review means and methods related to installation, including manufacturer's written instructions. 4. Examine support conditions for compliance with requirements, including alignment and attachment to structural support system. 5. Review flashings, wall cladding details, wall penetrations, openings, and condition of other construction that affects this Work. 6. Review temporary protection requirements for during and after installation of this Work. 1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including: 1. Preparation instructions and recommendations. 2. Dimensions of individual components and profiles. 3. Accessories necessary for complete fully functioning and assembled system. 4. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations. C. Sustainable Design Submittals: 1. Recycled Content: Provide manufacturers’ product documentation that includes recycled content claims for the products contributing towards compliance. Claims must conform to the definition in ISO 14021-1999, Environmental Labels and Declarations, Self-Declared Environmental Claims. a. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc3 Option 2 information for products with recycled content installed in the building. 2. Insulation: Provide manufacturers' or third-party certification of testing to and compliance with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard method v1.2-2017 that includes the following information: a. The exposure scenario used to determine compliance. b. The range of total VOCs after 14 days, measured as specified in the CDPH Standard Method v1.2: 1) 0.5 mg/m^3 or less; 2) Between 0.5 and 5.0 mg/m^3; or 3) 5.0 mg/m^3 or more. c. Laboratory accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025. d. Claims of compliance for wet-applied products must state the amount applied in mass per surface area. e. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with IEQc2 information for insulation installed within the waterproofing membrane. D. Shop Drawings: Include plans, sections, details, and attachments to other work. 1. Installation methods and construction details. a. Insulation support system attachment methods and required fasteners. b. Wall-mounted items including doors, windows, louvers, and lighting fixtures. c. Wall penetrations including pipes, electrical fixtures, and any other utilities. E. Delegated-Design Submittal: For composite framing support (CFS) system, including manufacturer's published load tables or analysis data signed and sealed by the qualified professional engineer responsible for their preparation. 1.5 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Test and Inspection Reports: Submit test and inspection reports on each type of wall cladding/veneer system based on evaluation of comprehensive tests performed by nationally recognized testing agency. B. Product Certificates: For each type of product. 1.6 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS A. Warranty: Submit manufacturer warranty completed in Owner's name and registered with manufacturer. Manufacturer Qualifications: Provide complete system from a single manufacturer with at least 3 years documented experience manufacturing products specified in this section. B. Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing work of this section and the following: 1. Install system in compliance with manufacturer's installation instructions. 2. Have not less than three years of documented experience. C. Exterior Wall Mockup: Provide products and materials for construction of the exterior wall mockup specified in Section 01 4339 “Mockups.” 1. Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship. 1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Delivery: Deliver materials in manufacturer's original, unopened, undamaged rolls/pallets with identification labels intact. B. Storage and Protection: Protect stored product from damage. Store products flat in dry, well ventilated area out of direct sunlight, under cover, protected from weather, moisture and excessive dryness and construction activities. C. Handle components in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations, and in a manner to prevent bending, warping, twisting, and surface, edge or corner damage. 1.9 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits. 1.10 WARRANTY A. Warranty: Provide manufacturer's standard limited warranty. Ensure forms have been completed in Owner's name and registered with manufacturer. 1. Manufacturer agrees to correct manufacturing defects within five year period after Date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 LEED REQUIREMENTS A. Recycled Content: Provide products with the maximum recycled content possible. Minimum recycled content 20 percent. Insulation: Insulation products must be tested and determined compliant in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.2-2017, using the applicable exposure scenario. The default scenario if the private office scenario. 2.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Delegated Design: Engage a qualified professional engineer, as defined in Section 01 4000 "Quality Requirements," to design composite framing support (CFS) system. B. Structural Performance: Composite framing support (CFS) system shall withstand the effects of gravity loads and the following loads and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated. 1. Design Loads: As indicated. 2. Deflection Limits: Design framing systems to withstand design loads without deflections greater than the following: a. Exterior Non-Load-Bearing Framing: Horizontal deflection of 1/240 of the wall height. 2.3 COMPOSITE FRAMING SUPPORT (CFS) SYSTEM WITH IN-FILL INSULATION A. Composite framing support (CFS) system with in-fill insulation. 1. Exterior Wall Cladding: Metal composite material (MCM) wall panels. 2. Exterior Wall Cladding: Cementitious wall panels. B. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide SMARTci GreenGirt 1-in-1 System by Advanced Architectural Products or a comparable product by one of the following or equal: 1. Cascadia Windows; Cascadia Clip. 2. Strongwell Corporation. 3. Creative Pultrusions, Inc. 4. Enduro; Composite Products Division. C. CFS System: Polyester and vinyl ester bioresin matrix (FRP) with recycled materials, fire retardant additives and integral continuous metal inserts the length of profile. Reinforce system with glass strand rovings used internally for longitudinal (lengthwise) strength and continuous strand glass mats or stitched reinforcements used internally for transverse (crosswise) strength. 1. Depth of GreenGirt: As indicated on Drawings. 2. On Center Spacing: 16 in. or as indicated on Drawings. 3. Continuous non-corrosive insert for fastener engagement. a. Material: 0.0635 in., G90 galvanized coating per ASTM A653/A653M. b. Fully engage steel insert with adjacent CFS at ends. c. Anchor sub-girts and other wall cladding support accessories to steel insert set into and part of CFS. 4. Integral compression seal in CFS sections to ensure insulation panel will not dislodge. 5. Integral anti-siphon grooves on exterior and interior flanges of CFS. 6. Force distribution zones integrally designed into profile of CFS. 7. Surface Burning Characteristics: a. Flame Spread Index (FSI) Tested per ASTM E84: 25 or less. b. Smoke Developed Index (SDI) Tested per ASTM E84: 450 or less. 8. Flammability: Comply with ASTM E84. 9. Self-Extinguishing: Comply with ASTM D635. 10. Profile Visual Requirements: Comply with ASTM D4385. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by one of the following or equal: a. Johns Manville; a Berkshire Hathaway company. b. Rockwool International. c. Thermafiber, Inc.; an Owens Corning company. 2. Nominal Density: 4 lb/cu. ft. 3. Flame-Spread Index: Not more than 15 when tested in accordance with ASTM E84. 4. Smoke-Developed Index: Not more than zero when tested in accordance with ASTM E84. 5. Board Thickness: As indicated on Drawings. 6. Thermal Resistance Tested per ASTM C518: 4.2 R-value at 75 degrees F minimum. 7. Labeling: Provide identification of mark indicating R-value of each piece of insulation 12 inches and wider in width. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances, metal composite material panel supports, and other conditions affecting performance of the Work. 1. Examine substrates and project conditions for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances, substrates, CFS system conditions, and other conditions affecting performance of this Work. 2. Examine structural wall framing ensuring angles, channels, studs, and other structural support members are installed within alignment tolerances required by manufacturer. 3. Examine wall sheathing to verify that sheathing joints are supported by framing or blocking and that installation is within flatness tolerances required by metal composite material wall panel manufacturer. a. Verify that air- or water-resistive barriers have been installed over sheathing or backing substrate to prevent air infiltration or water penetration. 4. Examine rough-in for components and systems penetrating CFS system. Coordinate actual locations of penetrations relative to CFS systems joint locations prior to installation. 5. Verify mechanical and electrical services for exterior walls are installed and tested. 6. Verify that adjacent materials and finishes are dry and ready to receive insulation. 7. Verify wall substrate surfaces have been properly prepared and unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation. Prepare surfaces using methods recommended by CFS manufacturer for achieving best result for substrate under project conditions. B. Prepare sub-framing, base angles, sills, furring, and other CFS system members and provide anchorage in accordance with ASTM C754 for substrate type and wall cladding type in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions. C. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions. 3.3 INSTALLATION A. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions for installing composite framing support (CFS) system. B. Attachment of Composite Framing Support (CFS) System: 1. Attach CFS system components to metal stud framing over sheathing and air barrier. a. Refer to Section 05 4000 “Cold-Formed Metal Framing” for metal stud framing. 2. Attach CFS system components to concrete masonry units over air barrier. a. Refer to Section 04 2000 “Unit Masonry” for CMU substrate. 3. Install CFS system components horizontally or vertically as indicated on Drawings. a. Provide spray foam sealant on backside of cantilevered fasteners that completely puncture insulation layer. b. Use shims as required for masonry or concrete substrates. C. Mineral-Wool Board Insulation: Install unfaced, mineral-wool board insulation between composite framing members according to CFS manufacturer's written instructions. 1. Coordinate installation of mineral-wool board insulation with the installation of secondary framing (Z-shaped furring, metal furring channels, and other secondary framing members) provided with wall panel systems installed over Composite Framing Support (CFS) System. 3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. Protect installed products from damage until Date of Substantial Completion. 1. Replace damaged insulation prior to installation of wall panel systems installed over Composite Framing Support (CFS) System. END OF SECTION
