Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: 1. Curb-mounted unit skylights with 10-mm multiwall panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel. 2. Prefabricated insulated aluminum curbs. B. Related Requirements: 1. Section 01 9113 “General Commissioning Requirements." 2. Section 01 9119 “Facility Shell Commissioning" for commissioning process requirements for building envelope commissioning. 3. Section 07 5419 “Polyvinyl-Chloride (PVC) Roofing” for installation of sheet metal flashing and trim integral with roofing. 4. Section 07 7100 "Roof Specialties" for manufactured copings and roof-edge specialties. 5. Section 07 7129 “Manufactured Roof Expansion Joints.” 6. Section 07 7200 "Roof Accessories" for hatch-type heat and smoke vents, elevator penthouse ventilators with operable dampers, roof drain markers, and other manufactured roof accessory units. 1.3 PREINSTALLATION MEETINGS A. Preinstallation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site. 1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Make Submittals in accordance with Section 01 3300 “Submittal Procedures.” B. Product Data: For each type of product. 1. Include product dimensions, construction details, material descriptions, dimensions and profiles of components, and finishes. C. Sustainable Design Submittals: 1. Environmental Product Declaration (EPD): Provide manufacturers’ product documentation for each product having an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). a. Documentation should confirm EPD conforms with ISO 14205 EN 15804 or ISO 21930. b. EPD shall have at least Cradle to Gate scope. c. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc2 information for each product having an EPD. Recycled Content: Provide manufacturers’ product documentation that includes recycled content claims for the products contributing towards compliance. Claims must conform to the definition in ISO 14021-1999, Environmental Labels and Declarations, Self-Declared Environmental Claims. a. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc3 Option 2 information for products with recycled content installed in the building. 3. Adhesives And Sealants: Provide manufacturers' or third-party certification of testing to and compliance with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard method v1.2-2017, that includes the following information: a. The exposure scenario used to determine compliance. b. The range of total VOCs after 14 days, measured as specified in the CDPH Standard Method v1.2: 1) 0.5 mg/m^3 or less; 2) Between 0.5 and 5.0 mg/m^3; or 3) 5.0 mg/m^3 or more. c. Laboratory accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025. d. Claims of compliance for wet-applied products must state the amount applied in mass per surface area. e. Provide MSDS or other manufacturer documentation with disclosure of VOC content for all wet-applied products. f. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with IEQc2 information for adhesives/sealants installed within the waterproofing membrane. D. Shop Drawings: 1. Include plans, elevations, sections, mounting, and attachment details and methods of structural support. E. Samples for Verification: For each product, as follows: 1. Glazing: In manufacturer's standard size and of same thickness indicated for the final Work. 2. Finishes: For each type and color of factory-applied exposed finish required, in manufacturer's standard size. F. Product Schedule: For each type of product specified. Use same designations indicated on Drawings. 1.5 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Product Test Reports: For each type and size of product, for tests performed by a qualified testing agency on specimens equal to or greater than sizes required for Project. B. Sample Warranty: For special warranties. 1.6 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS A. Maintenance Data: For products and accessories to include in maintenance manuals. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of products that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following: a. Failure to meet performance requirements. b. Water leakage not controlled by drainage features. c. Deterioration of materials and finishes beyond normal weathering. d. Breakage of polycarbonate glazing. e. Deterioration of insulating-glass units including failure of hermetic seal under normal use that is not attributed to glass breakage or to maintaining and cleaning insulating-glass units contrary to manufacturer's written instructions. Evidence of failure is the obstruction of vision by dust, moisture, or film on interior surfaces of glass. 2. Warranty Period: a. Products and Accessories: Five years from date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 LEED REQUIREMENTS A. Environmental Product Declaration (EPD): Provide products with Third Party Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) whenever available. B. Recycled Content: Provide products with the maximum recycled content possible. Minimum recycled content 20 percent. C. Adhesives And Sealants: For field applications that are inside the weatherproofing membrane: Adhesives/sealants must be tested and determined compliant in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.2-2017, using the applicable exposure scenario. The default scenario is the private office scenario. 1. All adhesives/sealants wet-applied on site must meet the applicable chemical content requirements of SCAQMD Rule 1168, October 6, 2017, Adhesive and Sealant Applications, as analyzed by the methods specified in Rule 1168. The provisions of SCAQMD Rule 1168 do not apply to adhesives and sealants subject to state or federal consumer product VOC regulations. 2.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Performance Standard: Comply with AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/1.S.2/A440 for definitions and minimum standards of performance, materials, components, accessories, and fabrication unless more stringent requirements are indicated. 1. Minimum Performance Grade: PG 165. 2. Label Requirements: Label each product with names of manufacturer and labeling agency and AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/1.S.2/A440 product designation, performance grade, and test specimen size equal to or greater than the size of the product. 3. Certification Requirements: Provide AAMA or WDMA certified products, with label attached to each. B. Thermal Transmittance: NFRC 100 maximum U-factor of 0.42 Btu/sq. ft. x h x deg F. C. Solar Heat-Gain Coefficient (SHGC): NFRC 200 maximum SHGC of 0.35. D. Plastic Glazing: 1. Self-Ignition Temperature: 650 deg F or more for plastic sheets in thickness indicated when tested in accordance with ASTM D1929. Smoke-Production Characteristics: Smoke-developed index of 450 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E84, and smoke density of 75 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM D2843. 3. Combustibility Characteristics: Tested in accordance with ASTM D635 and classified for burning rate of nominal thickness of 0.060 inch or thickness of plastic glazing indicated for use as follows: a. Class CC1: Burning rate of 1 inch per minute or less. 2.3 UNIT SKYLIGHTS A. Factory-Assembled Skylight: Factory-assembled, curb-mounted unit consisting of impact modified plastic glazing and polycarbonate panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel, gasketing, and inner frame designed to mount on separate curb. 1. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Model CLC2 by Wasco Skylights part of the Velux Group, Wells, ME (800-388-0293) or a comparable product by one of the following or equal: a. Dur-Red Products. b. Plasteco, Inc. c. Skyline Sky-Lites, LLC. B. Product Type: AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/1.S.2/A440 SKP, unit skylight - plastic glazed. 1. Provide fixed (nonoperable) units. C. Unit Shape and Size: As indicated on Drawings. D. Prefabricated Curbs: 1. Basis-of-Design Product: Thermally Enhanced Curb Model CCAW by Wasco Skylights part of the Velux Group, Wells, ME (800-388-0293) or equal. 2. Construction: Thermally broken sheet aluminum curb. a. Height: Minimum 12 inches above finished roofing. b. Thickness: 1-1/2 inch rigid insulation, R5.8. E. Condensation Control: Fabricate skylight units with integral internal gutters and weeps to collect and dispose of condensation. F. Thermal Break: Fabricate skylight units with thermal chambered PVC. G. Shape and Size: As indicated on Drawings. H. Outer Glazing: Dome thermoformed. 1. Clear, thermoformed acrylic. I. Inner Laylite: 10-mm Multi-wall flat cellular polycarbonate panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel insulation material. J. Aluminum Finishes: 1. Mill Finish: Manufacturer's standard. 2.4 MATERIALS A. Curb Frame: High performance PVC with minimum effective thickness of 0.060 inch. Provide integral condensation gutter system with corners fully welded for waterproof quality. Retainer Frame: Extruded aluminum alloy 6063-T5 (min). ASTM B 221 with minimum effective thickness of 0.60 inch. C. Dome Glazing: Thermoformed acrylic. D. Interior Laylite: 10-mm multi-wall flat cellular polycarbonate panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel insulating material. E. Thermal Break: Fabricate skylight units with thermal chambered PVC. F. Gaskets: Structural glazing tape to form adhesive bond between PVC curb and inner laylite, between inner laylite and inner dome, and between inner and outer dome. Butyl tape between outer dome and extruded aluminum retainer. G. Fasteners: Same metal as metals being fastened, or nonmagnetic stainless steel or other non- corrosive metal as recommended by manufacturer. 1. Where removal of exterior exposed fasteners might allow access to building, provide nonremovable fastener heads. 2.5 FABRICATION A. Framing Components: As follows: 1. Factory fit and assemble components. 2. Fabricate components to drain condensation and moisture occurring or migrating within skylight system to the exterior. 3. Fabricate components to accommodate expansion, contraction, and field adjustment, and to provide for minimum clearance and shimming at skylight perimeter. 4. Fabricate components to ensure that glazing is thermally and physically isolated from framing members. 5. Fit and secure joints in aluminum by heliarc welding. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine openings, substrates, structural support, anchorage, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of the Work. B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Coordinate installation of products and accessories with installation of substrates, vapor retarders, roof insulation, roofing membrane, and flashing as required to ensure that each element of the Work performs properly and that combined elements are waterproof and weathertight. B. Install products and accessories to comply with recommendations in AAMA 1607 and with manufacturer's written installation instructions. Install products true to line and without distortion. D. Anchor products securely to supporting substrates. E. Where metal surfaces of products will contact other metal or corrosive substrates, such as preservative-treated wood, apply bituminous coating on concealed metal surfaces or provide other approved permanent separation recommended in writing by manufacturer. 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Testing Agency: Owner will engage a qualified testing agency to perform tests and inspections. B. After completion of installation and nominal curing of sealant and glazing compounds, but before installation of interior finishes, test for water leaks in accordance with AAMA 501.2. C. Perform test for total area of each installed product. D. Work will be considered defective if it does not pass tests and inspections. E. Additional testing and inspections, at Contractor's expense, will be performed to determine compliance of replaced or additional work with specified requirements. F. Prepare test and inspection reports. 3.4 CLEANING AND ADJUSTING A. Clean exposed product surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions. Touch up damaged metal coatings and finishes. B. Remove excess sealants, glazing materials, dirt, and other substances. C. Remove and replace glazing that has been broken, chipped, cracked, abraded, or damaged during construction period. D. Protect product surfaces from contact with contaminating substances resulting from construction operations. END OF SECTION
