PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. Drawings and General Provisions of Contract, including General and
Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification sections, apply to work
of this section.
B. Related Sections: The following sections contain requirements that relate to this
section.

1.1 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
A. Provide all materials, equipment and labor necessary to complete the work as
indicated on the drawings or as specified herein.
B. The principal work of this section includes, but may not be limited to the
following:
1. Single-sided multi-purpose LED scoreboard

A. Product data: Submit manufacturer’s product illustrations, data and literature that
fully describe the scoreboards and accessories proposed for installation.
B. Shop drawings: Submit mechanical and electrical drawings.
C. Maintenance data: Submit manufacturer’s installation, operation, and
maintenance manuals.
D. Provide stamped shop drawings by a current Registered Structural Engineer in the
State of Massachusetts for footings not shown on the plans. Drawings shall indicate
approved equipment manufacturer and model number.
E. All submittals must be prior to fabrication and/or field installation work.
F. LEED Submittals:
1. Document FSC Certification for all wood products that contribute to credit
achievement by providing the following:
a. Itemized vendor invoices for FSC-certified products.
b. Chain-of-Custody (COC) certificates. Every entity that
processes or trades FSC-certified material before it is shipped to the
project site must have FSC CoC certification. On-site installers of
FSC-certified products must have CoC certification only if they
modify the products off the project site.
2. Complete “LEED Materials Documentation Sheet” with MRc3 Option 2
information for wood products installed in the building.
3. Provide manufacturers’ product documentation that includes recycled
content claims for the products contributing towards compliance. Claims
must conform to the definition in ISO 14021-1999, Environmental Labels
and 4. Declarations, Self-Declared Environmental Claims.
4. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc3 Option 2
information for products with recycled content installed in the building.
1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Product delivered on site
B. Scoreboard and equipment to be housed in a clean, dry environment
1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Environmental limitations: Do not install scoreboard equipment until mounting
structure is secure and concrete has ample time to cure.
B. Field measurements: Verify position and elevation of structure and its layout for
scoreboard equipment. Verify dimensions by field measurements.
C. Verify mounting structure is capable of supporting the scoreboard's weight and
windload in addition to the auxiliary equipment.

D. Installation may proceed within acceptable weather conditions.
1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. For outdoor use
B. Source Limitations: Obtain each type of scoring or related equipment through
one source from a single manufacturer.
C. ETL listed to UL Standards 48 and 1433
D. NEC compliant
E. FCC compliant
F. ETLC listed to CAN/CSA 22.2
G. The installation of the Scoreboard and Structures shall be by Contractor with a
minimum of five (5) years’ experience on similar projects, with at least two similar
projects within the last eighteen months. Evidence of this experience shall be
submitted to the Owner’s Representative for review and approval.
H. All scoreboards shall conform to the standards set forth by the National Federation
of State High School Associations (NFSHSA) and shall conform to the standards
set forth by the United States Tennis Court and Track Builders Association now
known as the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA).
1.7 WARRANTY
A. Manufacturer’s warranties shall pass to the Owner and certification made that the
product materials meet all applicable grade trademarks or conform to industry
standards and inspection requirements.
B. Provide five (5) years of no cost parts and labor guarantee for scoreboards.
C. Provide two (2) years part and labor guarantee for wireless controls and
receivers.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1 Any manufacturer’s names and/or model numbers identified herein are intended to assist
in establishing a general level of quality, configuration, functionality, and appearance
required. This is not a proprietary specification and it should be noted that “or equivalent”
applies to all products denoted herein. It is understood that all manufacturers will have
minor variations in configuration, appearance, and product specifications and such minor

variations shall not eliminate such manufacturers as an equivalent. It is the intent of this
specification to encourage open and competitive involvement from multiple
manufacturers that are able to supply similar products.
2.2 SCOREBOARD

PART 3 –EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that mounting structure is ready to receive scoreboard. Verify that
placement of conduit and junction boxes are as specified and indicated in plans
and shop drawings. Verify concrete has cured adequately according to
specifications.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. All power and control cables to scoreboards and displays will be routed in
conduit. Power to the scoreboards/displays as well as raceways shown on
electrical plans by the Electrical Contractor. Scoreboard control wiring including
conduit will be the responsibility of the contractor assigned the scoreboard
equipment.
B. Install scoreboards and exterior displays to beams in location detailed and in
accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Verify unit is plumb and level.

3.3 INSTALLATION—CONTROL CENTER
A. Provide boxes, cover plates and jacks in locations per plans.
B. Test connect control unit to all jacks and check for proper operation of control
unit, scoreboard and all features. Leave control unit in carrying case and other
loose accessories with owner's designated representative.
C. Verify earth ground does not exceed 15 ohms.
