Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section includes fixed, universal ceiling mounts for projectors including mounting hardware and other components required for complete installation. B. Related Requirements: 1. Section 05 5000 "Metal Fabrications" for metal support framing for projector lifts. 2. Section 09 5113 "Acoustical Panel Ceilings." 3. Section 11 5213 "Projection Screens." 4. Division 26 Sections for electrical service and connections including device boxes for switches and conduit, where required. 1.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Make Submittals in accordance with Section 01 3300 “Submittal Procedures.” B. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. C. Shop Drawings: For projector mounts. Show layouts and types of projector lifts. Include the following for electrically operated projector lifts and controls: 1. Location of projector relative to centerline of screen. 2. Location of wiring connections for projectors. 3. Anchorage details, including connection to supporting structure for suspended units. 4. Details of juncture of exposed surfaces with adjacent finishes. 5. Accessories. D. Samples: For finishes. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Source Limitations for Projector Mounts: Obtain ceiling projector mounts from single manufacturer. Obtain accessories, including necessary mounting hardware, from projector mount manufacturer. Environmental Limitations: Do not deliver or install projector mounts until spaces are enclosed and weathertight, wet work in spaces is complete and dry, and temporary HVAC system is operating and maintaining ambient temperature and humidity conditions at occupancy levels during the remainder of the construction period. B. Store projector lifts in manufacturer's protective packaging and according to manufacturer's written instructions. 1.6 COORDINATION A. Coordinate layout and installation of projector lifts with adjacent construction, including ceiling suspension systems, light fixtures, HVAC equipment, fire-suppression system, and partitions. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 UNIVERSAL PROJECTOR MOUNTS A. Basis-of-Design Product: UPM-1-Universal Projector Mount as manufactured by Da-Lite Screen Company, Inc. or a comparable product of the following: 1. Bretford, Inc. B. Description: The mount shall be a fabricated mild steel design and consist of a grooved coupling, U-joint, pitch bracket, locking ring, base disk, legs, and feet. The coupling shall be a 1-1/2 inch NPT steel half pipe coupling. The U-joint and legs shall be 14-gauge formed steel. The pitch bracket, locking ring, and base disk shall be 11-gauge steel and allow for the alignment of the projector lens to the pivot axes. The feet on the legs shall be adjustable to allow finetuning of the image to the viewing screen with thumbnuts. Mount shall have 20 degrees of roll djustment, 15 degrees of pitch adjustment and 360 degrees of swivel. Will support up to 50 lbs. Mount assemblies shall have a commercial powder coat black or white finish. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 PREPARATION A. Coordinate layout and installation of projector mounts with ceiling construction and related components penetrating or above ceilings such as lighting fixtures, mechanical equipment, ductwork, and fire-suppression system. B. Coordinate requirements for blocking, structural supports, bracing, and ceiling openings to ensure adequate means for installation of projector mounts. C. Coordinate requirements for power supply conduit, and wiring required for projectors and controls. D. Coordinate installation of projector mounts with construction of suspended acoustical panel ceilings. Install projector mounts at locations and heights indicated on Drawings. B. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions. C. Provide required brackets, hanger rods, and fasteners. D. Install projector mounts into ceiling as detailed on Drawings and approved shop drawings. Mount with 4 threaded steel 1/2 inch minimum diameter suspension rods attached to brackets on lifts and to supplementary structural supports with lock nuts. Do not support projector mounts on acoustical ceiling grid without supplementary structural support. Provide bracing as required to resist seismic loads. 3.3 PROTECTING A. Protect projection mounts after installation from damage from construction operations. If damage occurs, remove and replace damaged components or entire unit as required to provide units in their original, undamaged condition. END OF SECTION (THIS PAGE IS BLANK)
