Preinstallation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site. 1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Make Submittals in accordance with Section 01 3300 “Submittal Procedures.” B. Product Data: For each type of product. 1. Include assembly, disassembly, and storage instructions for removable equipment. 2. Motors: Show nameplate data, ratings, characteristics, and mounting arrangements. C. Sustainable Design Submittals: 1. Environmental Product Declaration (EPD): Provide manufacturers’ product documentation for each product having an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). Documentation should confirm EPD conforms with ISO 14205 EN 15804 or ISO 21930. b. EPD shall have at least Cradle to Gate scope, c. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc2 information for each product having an EPD. 2. FSC-Certified Wood: Document FSC Certification for all wood products that contribute to credit achievement by providing the following: a. Itemized vendor invoices for FSC-certified products. b. Chain-of-Custody (COC) certificates. Every entity that processes or trades FSC- certified material before it is shipped to the project site must have FSC CoC certification. On -site installers of FSC-certified products must have CoC certification only if they modify the products off the project site. c. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc3 Option 2 information for wood products installed in the building. 3. Recycled Content: Provide manufacturers’ product documentation that includes recycled content claims for the products contributing towards compliance. Claims must conform to the definition in ISO 14021 -1999, Environmental Labels and Declarations, Self-Declared Environmental Claims. a. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with MRc3 Option 2 information for products with recycled content installed in the building. 4. Adhesives and Sealants: Provide manufacturers' or third-party certification of testing to and compliance with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard method v1.2-2017 that includes the following information: a. The exposure scenario used to determine compliance. b. The range of total VOCs after 14 days, measured as specified in the CDPH Standard Method v1.2: 1) 0.5 mg/m^3 or less; 2) Between 0.5 and 5.0 mg/m^3; 3) or 5.0 mg/m^3 or more. c. Laboratory accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025. d. Claims of compliance for wet-applied products must state the amount applied in mass per surface area. e. Provide MSDS or other manufacturer documentation with disclosure of VOC content for all wet-applied products. f. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with IEQc2 information for adhesives/sealants installed within the waterproofing membrane. 5. Composite Wood Products: Provide manufacturers’ product data confirming that the composite wood products in the building have low formaldehyde emissions that meet the California Air Resources Board ATCM for formaldehyde requirements for ultra-low- emitting formaldehyde (ULEF) resins or no added formaldehyde resins. a. Complete "LEED Materials Documentation Sheet" with IEQc2 information for composite wood products installed within the waterproofing membrane. D. Shop Drawings: For gymnasium equipment. 1. Include plans, elevations, sections, and attachment details. 2. Include details of field assembly for removable equipment, connections, installation, mountings, floor inserts, and operational clearances. 3. Include transport and storage accessories for removable equipment. 4. Include diagrams for power, signal, and control wiring. E. Samples for Verification: For the following products: 1. Basketball Net: Full size. 2. Volleyball Net: Minimum 12-inch length by full height, including one edge and net accessories. 3. Volleyball Floor Insert: Full-size unit. Pad Fabric: Wall padding minimum 3 inches square, and corner and column Samples minimum 3 inches long, with specified treatments applied. Mark face of material. 1.5 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Coordination Drawings: Court layout plans, reflected ceiling plans, and other details, drawn to scale, and coordinated with ceiling-suspended gymnasium equipment, floor inserts, game lines, and markers applied to finished flooring, and coordinated with each other, using input from installers of the items involved: 1. Structural members to which overhead-supported gymnasium equipment will be attached. 2. Suspended ceiling components, if any. 3. Items supported from building structure above the courts, including the following: a. Lighting fixtures. b. Air outlets and inlets. c. Speakers. d. Sprinklers. e. Smoke detectors. f. Acoustical treatments or panels. g. Access panels. B. Setting Drawings: For embedded items and cutouts required in other work. C. Qualification Data: For Installer. D. Product Certificates: For each type of gymnasium equipment. E. Sample Warranty: For special warranty. 1.6 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS A. Operation and Maintenance Data: For gymnasium equipment to include in operation and maintenance manuals. 1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: Fabricator of products or an entity that employs installers and supervisors who are trained and approved by manufacturer. 1.8 FIELD CONDITIONS A. Field Measurements: Verify position and elevation of floor inserts and layout for gymnasium equipment. 1.9 WARRANTY A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of gymnasium equipment that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. Warranty Period: Five years from date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to the following or equal: 1. Draper, Inc. 2. Jaypro Sports Construction Group. 3. Porter Athletic, Inc. B. Source Limitations: Obtain gymnasium equipment from single source from single manufacturer. 2.2 LEED REQUIREMENTS A. Provide products with Third Party Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) whenever available. B. FSC-Certified Wood: Wood products that are not reused, salvaged, or recycled must be certified to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council. 1. Provide products manufactured and extracted within 100 miles of the project site whenever possible. C. Provide products with the maximum amount of recycled content possible. D. Provide products manufactured and extracted within 100 miles of the project site whenever possible. E. Adhesives and Sealants: For field applications that are inside the weatherproofing membrane: Adhesives/sealants must be tested and determined compliant in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.2-2017, using the applicable exposure scenario. The default scenario is the private office scenario. 1. All adhesives/sealants wet-applied on site must meet the applicable chemical content requirements of SCAQMD Rule 1168, October 6, 2017, Adhesive and Sealant Applications, as analyzed by the methods specified in Rule 1168. The provisions of SCAQMD Rule 1168 do not apply to adhesives and sealants subject to state or federal consumer product VOC regulations. F. Composite Wood Products: Composite wood, as defined by the California Air Resources Board, Airborne Toxic Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products Regulation, must be documented to have low formaldehyde emissions that meet the California Air Resources Board ATCM for formaldehyde requirements for ultra-low-emitting formaldehyde (ULEF) resins or no added formaldehyde resins. Seismic Performance: Basketball backstops and anchors shall withstand the effects of earthquake motions determined according to ASCE/SEI 7. 2.4 BASKETBALL EQUIPMENT A. Standard Rules: Provide equipment complying with requirements in NFHS's "NFHS Basketball Rules Book." B. Protruding fasteners or exposed bolt heads on front face of backboards are not permitted. C. Connections: Manufacturer's standard connections or connections recommended in writing by manufacturer and complying with Section 05 5000 "Metal Fabrications" of size and type required to transfer loads to building structure. D. Overhead-Supported Backstops: 1. Folding Type: Provide manufacturer's standard assembly for forward-folding, front- braced backstops, with hardware and fittings to permit folding. 2. Framing: Steel pipe, tubing, and shapes. Design framing to minimize vibration during play. a. Center-Mast Frame: Welded and bolted or clamped with side sway bracing. b. Finish: Manufacturer's standard polyester powder-coat finish. 3. Goal Height Adjuster: Adjustable from 8 to 10 feet with gear-drive mechanism, locking in any position within adjustment range, with visible height scale attached to side of framing. a. Operation: Electric with integral gear-drive motor, with limit switches preset to goal heights, and with key switch control. E. Backstop Safety Device: Designed to limit free fall if support cable, chains, pulleys, fittings, winch, or related components fail; with mechanical automatic reset; 6000-lb load capacity; one per folding backstop. F. Backstop Electric Operator: Provide operating machine of size and capacity recommended by manufacturer for equipment specified, with electric motor and factory-prewired motor controls, starter, gear-reduction unit, and remote controls. Coordinate wiring requirements and electrical characteristics with building electrical system. 1. Basketball Backboard: 1. Shape and Size: Rectangular, 72 by 42 inches. 2. Backboard Material: With predrilled holes or preset inserts for mounting goals, and as follows: a. Glass: Not less than 1/2-inch-thick, transparent tempered glass complying with ASTM C 1048 Kind FT (fully tempered) and with impact testing requirements in 16 CFR 1201 Category II or ANSI Z97.1 Class A for safety glazing. Provide glass with impact-absorbing resilient rubber or PVC gasket around perimeter in a fully welded, painted steel or brushed-natural-finish, extruded-aluminum frame, with steel subframe, reinforcement, bracing, and mounting slots for mounting backboard frame to backboard support framing. 1) Direct Mount: Designed for mounting backboard frame to center mast of backstop to maximize relief of stresses on backboard frame and glass. 3. Target Area and Border Markings: Permanently etched in white color, marked in pattern and stripe width according to referenced rules. H. Goal Mounting Assembly: Compatible with goal, backboard, and support framing; with hole pattern 5 that is manufacturer's standard for goal attachment. 1. Provide equipment complying with requirements in NFHS's "NFHS Volleyball Rules Book." One net system and two floor sleeves are required. Exact location of floor sleeves to be field located in the gymnasium by Architect. C. Floor Insert: Solid-brass floor plate; and steel pipe sleeve, concealed by floor plate, with capped bottom end, sized with ID to fit post standards, not less than 9 inches long to securely anchor pipe sleeve below finished floor in concrete footing; with anchors designed for securing floor insert to floor substrate indicated; one per post standard. 1. Floor Plate: Lockable swivel access cover, designed for use with floating wood floors and to be flush with adjacent flooring. Provide two tools for unlocking access covers. D. Post Standards: Removable, paired volleyball post standards as indicated. Adjustable, telescoping height. Designed for easy removal from permanently placed floor insert supports. Fabricated from combined steel and extruded-aluminum pipe or tubing, with nonmarking plastic or rubber end cap or floor bumper to protect permanent flooring. Bottom Net Lock Tightener: Provide manufacturer's standard quick-release-type tension strap; a spring-loaded, self-locking tensioner; a turnbuckle; a pulley; or other device and linkage fittings designed to quickly and easily tighten bottom line or net. H. Safety Pads: Comply with NCAA and NFHS requirements. Provide pads consisting of not less than 1-1/4-inch-thick, multiple-impact-resistant manufacturer's standard foam filler covered by puncture- and tear-resistant fabric cover, not less than 14-oz./sq. yd. PVC-coated polyester, treated with fungicide for mildew resistance; with fire-test-response characteristics indicated, and lined with fire-retardant liner. Provide pads with hook-and-loop closure or attachments for the following components: 1. Fabricate welded-steel tubing units with heavy-duty casters, including no fewer than two swivel casters. Fabricate wheels from materials that do not damage or mark floors; number of units as required to provide transport and storage for specified equipment. 2.6 EXERCISE EQUIPMENT A. Chinning (Pull-Up) Bars: Wall mounted. 1. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Model EWM-30 Wall Mount Adjustable Chinning Bar by Jaypro Sports, LLC or equal. 2. Adjustable Height: In 6-inch increments within a range of 24 inches. 3. Bar Length: 32 inches. 4. Bar: Minimum 1-3/8-inch-diameter round steel bar. 5. Support Frame: Steel channels. 6. Bar Installation Height and Wall Clearance: Height as indicated on Drawings and minimum 14 inches from wall. B. Stall Bars: Wall mounted in a continuous row; each vertical section with no fewer than 16 rungs. 1. Size: Each section, 34 inches wide by 98 inches high. 3. Side Rails: Formed-steel tube uprights minimum 1-1/2 by 5 inches with capped ends; nominal sheet thickness minimum 0.0598 inch. 4. Rungs: Minimum 1-1/2-inch- diameter, round rungs made from oak firmly fixed to side rails to prevent rotating or other movement. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Model No. 502025 Wall Mounted Horizontal Ladder by Draper, Inc. or equal. 2. Size: As indicated on Drawings. 3. Side Rails: Steel tubing minimum 1-1/2 by 4 inches with capped ends; tubing wall thickness minimum 0.083 inch. 4. Rungs: Minimum 1-5/16-inch- diameter round rungs made from maple firmly fixed to side rails to prevent rotating or other movement. 5. Support Frame: Minimum 1-5/16-inch- OD, steel pipe or tubing, with bracing. 6. Ladder Installation Height and Wall Clearance: Height as indicated on Drawings and 30 inches from wall. D. Vertical Arm Ladders: Wall mounted, with five to seven horizontal rungs for hand and foot holds. 1. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Model No. 502028 Deluxe Arm Ladder by Draper, Inc. or equal. 2. Size: 22 inches wide by 60 inches high. 3. Pegged Board Vertical Climbers: Wall-mounted board with two peg handholds per board. 1. Basis-of-Design Products: Porter Athletic Equipment Company; No. 00188 Peg Board Climber: 2. Peg board shall be constructed from 1-1/2 in. thick wood with 11 holes spaced on 10 in. centers. Holes shall be arranged in two rows with staggered alignment. Dimensions of board to be 15 inches in width and 60 inches in height. F. Climbing Ropes: 1-1/2-inch- diameter rope, with top end securely clamped in fitting designed for attaching to supporting structure indicated on Drawings. 1. Description: Three-strand hemp. 2. Length: As required to allow 42 inches of rope to lie on floor. 3. Rope Bottom End: Tied in a Turk's head knot and fitted with leather sheath. 4. Tambourine: 24-inch diameter; minimum 1/2-inch- thick, painted plywood disk for restricting climbing and for exercise competition. 5. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions and competition rules for each type of gymnasium equipment. B. Install gymnasium equipment after other finishing operations, including painting, have been completed unless otherwise indicated. C. Permanently Placed Gymnasium Equipment and Components: Install rigid, level, plumb, square, and true; anchored securely to supporting structure; positioned at locations and elevations indicated; in proper relationship to adjacent construction; and aligned with court layout. 1. Floor-Insert Locations: Coordinate locations with application of game lines and markers. 2. Floor-Insert Elevation: Coordinate installed heights of floor inserts with installation and field finishing of finish flooring and floor-plate type. 3. Operating Gymnasium Equipment: Verify clearances for movable components of gymnasium equipment throughout entire range of operation and for access to operating components. D. Floor-Insert Setting: Clean oversized, recessed voids in concrete substrate of debris. Position each sleeve, and fill void around sleeve with grout, mixed and placed according to grout manufacturer's written instructions. Protect portion of sleeve above subfloor and footing from splatter. Verify that sleeves are set plumb, aligned, and at correct height and spacing; hold in position during placement and finishing operations until grout is sufficiently cured. Set insert so top surface of completed unit is flush with finished flooring surface. E. Safety Pads: Mount with bottom edge at dimension indicated on Drawings or, if not indicated, 4 inches above finished floor. F. Cutout Trim: Limit cuts in face of padding so that cuts are securely and fully concealed behind trim-kit flange. G. Anchoring to In-Place Construction: Use anchors and fasteners where necessary to secure built-in and permanently placed gymnasium equipment to structural support and to properly transfer load to in-place construction. H. Connections: Connect electric operators to building electrical system. I. Removable Gymnasium-Equipment Components: Assemble in place to verify that equipment and components are complete and in proper working order. Disassemble removable gymnasium equipment after assembled configuration is approved by Owner, and store units in location indicated on Drawings. 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Prepare test and inspection reports. 3.4 ADJUSTING A. Adjust movable components of gymnasium equipment to operate safely, smoothly, easily, and quietly; free from binding, warp, distortion, nonalignment, misplacement, disruption, or malfunction, throughout entire operational range; and lubricate as recommended in writing by manufacturer. 3.5 DEMONSTRATION A.
