Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: 1. One Two interior single-sided LED basketball/volleyball scoreboards, including wireless control center. 2. Game clock and shot clocks, one at each main-court basketball backstop. 3. Scoring console. 4. Leaderboard statistics display. B. Related Requirements: 1. Section 05 5000 “Metal Fabrications" for miscellaneous steel framing and supports for mounting interior scoreboards. 2. Section 11 6623 "Gymnasium Equipment." 3. Section 12 6600 “Telescoping Stands." 4. Division 26 Sections “Electrical” for electric service for interior scoreboards. 1.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Make Submittals in accordance with Section 01 3300 “Submittal Procedures.” B. Product Data: For scoreboards, controls, and accessories. Include descriptions of control functions. C. Shop Drawings: Show locations, face layout, dimensions, construction, electrical wiring diagrams, and method of anchorage. D. Finish samples. 1.4 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Qualification Data: For Installer. B. Warranty: Special warranty specified in this Section. Operation and Maintenance Data: For basketball scoreboard to include in emergency, operation, and maintenance manuals. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: Manufacturer or an employer of workers trained and approved by manufacturer. B. Source limitation: All components including scoreboard, control center, control cable, and other accessories and installation hardware shall be products of a single manufacturer. C. Scoreboards and other electrical components shall be certified by Underwriter Laboratories, (UL), Inc. and shall bear UL label. D. Scoreboards and other electrical components shall be electrically grounded in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC), Article 600. 1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Environmental Limitations: Do not install basketball scoreboard until spaces are enclosed and weatherproof, wet work in spaces is complete and dry, and ambient temperature and humidity conditions are maintained at the levels indicated for Project when occupied for its intended use. 1.8 COORDINATION A. Coordinate position and installation of basketball scoreboard and suspension system components with other construction including light fixtures, HVAC equipment, and fire- suppression-system components. 1.9 WARRANTY A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of basketball scoreboard that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. 1. Warranty Period: Five years from date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 BASKETBALL / VOLLEYBALL SCOREBOARD A. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Daktronics BB-2101 single-sided basketball and volleyball scoreboard and Daktronics BB-2103 single- sided basketball and volleyball scoreboard by Daktronics, Inc., or a comparable product of one of the following or equal: 1. Electro-Mech Scoreboard Company. 2. Nevco Scoreboard Company. 3. Spectrum Corporation. Product Description: 1. Single-sided basketball and volleyball scoreboard has the ability to display the period time to 99:59 and HOME and GUEST scores to 199 in red, green or amber. 2. Provide clock with the ability to illuminate red when stopped, green when running and amber when under a minute. 3. HOME and GUEST scores have the ability to illuminate green to indicate which team is ahead, red to indicate which team is behind and amber when the score is tied. These color-changing options are configurable in the controller. 4. Provide scoreboard that displays PERIOD to nine. PERIOD, bonus, and TOL illuminate amber and possession indicator is red. Individual player fouls display up 9 in amber and individual player number displays up to 99 in amber. Team FOULs display up to 19 in red. 5. During the last minute of the period, provide clock that displays time to 1/10 of a second. 6. Provide scorboard that also scores volleyball and wrestling. C. General information: 1. Model BB-2101 Dimensions: 48 inches high, 96 inches wide, 6 inches deep. 2. Model BB-2103 Dimensions: 72 inches high, 96 inches wide, 6 inches deep. 1. Cabinet withstands high-velocity impact from indoor sports balls without the need for protective screens. E. Digits: 1. AS AlInGaP LED digits. 2. Seven bar segments per digit. 3. Console: All Sport® 5500 controller by Daktronics, Inc., or equal. 1. Capable of scoring basketball, volleyball, and wrestling through the use of keyboard inserts. 2. Capable of controlling other ColorSmart compatible scoreboards. 3. Console recalls clock, score, and period information if power is lost. B. Console includes: 1. Aluminum enclosure to house electronics. 2. A sealed membrane water-resistant keyboard. 3. A 32-character liquid crystal prompting display to verify entries and recall information currently displayed. 4. Provide 72 inch long power cord to plug into a standard grounded 120 V AC outlet. 5. Provide 20 foot long control cable to connect to the control receptacle junction box. 6. Provide a practice timer mode: a. Can sound the horn at the end of each segment. b. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Daktronics BB-2140BB-2114 Basketball Game Clock / Shot Clock by Daktronics, Inc., or equal. B. Product Description: Two-sided transparent basketball game and shot clock timer displays game time to 99:59 and shot times up to a value of 99 seconds. Provide game and shot clock that can also count down from any preset time between 0 and 99 seconds. During the last minute of the period, game time is displayed to 1/10 of a second. Include a hand-held start/stop/reset switch. 1. Timer will be controlled by the same console controlling the basketball scoreboard. C. General information: 1. Dimensions: 30 in. high by 30 in. wide by 3-1/2 in. deep. 2. Weight: 75 lb. 3. Hardware for suspension installation. 2.4 LEADERBOARD STATISTICS DISPLAY A. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Daktronics SD-2104 Leaderboard by Daktronics, Inc., or equal. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for scoreboard installation including accurate locations of connections to building electrical system, and other conditions affecting performance. 1. Examine wall assemblies, where reinforced to receive anchors and fasteners, to verify that locations of concealed reinforcements have been clearly marked. Locate reinforcements and mark locations. 2. Verify exact scoreboard and control center junction box locations with Architect. 3. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions. B. Coordinate requirements for electrical power, wall blocking, auxiliary framing and supports, suspension cables, and other components to ensure adequate provisions are made for complete, functional installation of scoreboards. Coordinate scoreboard electrical requirements to ensure proper power source, conduit, wiring, and boxes are provided. Prior to installation, verify type and location of power supply. D. Permanently Placed Scoreboard Equipment and Components: Rigid, level, plumb, square, and true; anchored securely to supporting structure; positioned at locations and elevations indicated on Shop Drawings; in proper relation to adjacent construction; and aligned with court layout. E. Provide boxes, cover plates and jacks as required to meet control specifications requirements. Provide concealed control cables to control panels. F. Test operation of scoreboard, controller and all control jacks. Leave control unit in carrying case and other loose items with owner's designated representative. 3.3 CLEANING A. After completing scoreboard installation, inspect components. Remove spots, dirt, and debris and touch up damaged shop-applied finishes according to manufacturer's written instructions. B. Replace scoreboard equipment and finishes that cannot be cleaned and repaired, in a manner approved by Architect, before time of Substantial Completion. 3.4 DEMONSTRATION A. Engage a factory-authorized service representative to train Owner's maintenance personnel to adjust, operate, and maintain scoreboard. Refer to Section 01 7900 "Demonstration and Training."
